?The second Sarsanghchalak of RSS, Shri Guruji not only guided the RSS but he was a guide for the whole country. During the 1965 war, the then Prime Minister of India, the late Lal Bahadur Shastri had discussed various issues with him and knew his views on war. Shri Guruji was the only social worker who had earned respect from leaders of all political parties. That is why in 1973 when Shri Guruji passed away, the Parliament had paid condolence to him, even though the then Prime Minister, Smt. Indira Gandhi had differences with him,? said Shri H.V. Seshadri, Akhil Bharatiya Pracharak Pramukh of RSS. He was releasing Shri Guruji Samagra in Kolkata recently.
Shri Seshadri pointed out that the second RSS Sarsanghchalak became popular as ?Shri Guruji? after he started teaching in Benaras Hindu University in 1930. He remained Sarsanghchalak from 1940 to 1973. He said that the RSS became strong due to Shri Guruji'sfirm belief in truth. He pointed out that when Shri Guruji was asked whether India could be reintegrated, he had said, ?It is possible if Hindus of the country get united. Bharat has been partitioned due to division among Hindus and this partition is unnatural.?
Shri Kalidas Basu, Member, Akhil Bharatiya Karyakarini and senior advocate in Supreme Court, was also present on the occasion. He said that he was a student when he listened to Shri Guruji for the first time in 1939.
