S.P. Nair passes away

Writer, journalist, social activist and regular contributor to Organiser, S. Prabhakaran Nair, better known as S.P. Nair Guruvayur, died at his Panniyankara residence on October 18, following cardiac arrest. He was 82.

Prabhakaran Nair, who practised as a lawyer at Kerala High Court for a long time, joined the Chennai edition of Express later. He won many a laurel as a journalist, specialising in music. Nair was instrumental in bringing out an eveninger newspaper from Guruvayur.

He was also actively involved with private firms ?Aspinwall? and ?Good Acres?.

Nair was one of the secretaries of the erstwhile Travancore Chamber of Commerce. He had also written three books: Pilgrim'sGuide to Guruvayur, Musicscape of Kerala and Ganakairali.

His wife Suneethi had died recently. He is survived by his daughters Parvathi Devi Surendranath and Snehaprabha Sankara Narayanan. Organiser joins the bereved family in paying homage to the departed soul.
