Since Shri M.G. Vaidya has been very close to all Sarsanghchalaks, including Dr Hedgewar and Shri Guruji, his new book Shri Guruji: Ek Anokha Netritva (Shri Guruji: A Unique Leadership) provides interesting and some rare information on Sangh activities. It is a fact that hard work and tireless efforts of Shri Guruji brought the Sangh to the centre stage. His tenure as RSS Sarsanghchalak was full of struggles and this has been highlighted in the book. The biggest challenge before the Sangh came in 1948 after the brutal murder of Gandhiji. Shri Guruji was in Chennai on January 30, 1948. While going to Nagpur, his first reaction was: “The Sangh has gone 20 years back.” These were his words before the ban on RSS following Gandhiji'smurder. The Sangh was banned on February 4, 1948. The book provides factual information and analysis on the murder of Gandhiji and subsequent ban on RSS. The Sangh Swayamsevaks were targeted brutally. Shri Guruji’s residence was also attacked. The Swayamsevaks were ready to face any kind of situation at that time. Finally, the truth prevailed and the ban was lifted from RSS. Shri Guruji had unfathomable faith in the society.

The book also provides interesting information on the formation of ABVP, BMS, VHP, etc. Although Shri Guruji wanted the strong work in all fields of life, he always emphasised the importance of the daily shakha. He used to say that the role of Sangh was like a power-house. The 60-page book is in Hindi and has been priced at a mere Rs 20. The book can be obtained from Madhav Smriti Nays, 6, Mitra Mandal Society, Usmanpura, Ahmedabad-380 014 (Gujarat)
