The concept of Self-Help Group (SHG), initiated by Sewa Bharati, has emerged as a boon for economic development of women in rural areas. Sewa Bharati runs over 205 such SHGs in Jharkhand alone. A one-day workshop of these groups was organised at Yogada Satsang Ashram in Ranchi recently. Smt. Alka Tewari, Commissioner of Commerce Tax (Jharkhand) was the chief guest. Shri Krishnballabh Narayan Singh, Kshetra Sanghchalak, inaugurated an ambulance of Sewa Bharati for the state. Over 615 women activists of SHGs, including 106 from Ranchi, 100 from Dhanbad, 180 from Hazaribagh, 36 from Jamshedpur and 3 from Dumka, were imparted training at the workshop.
