The Antharashtra Pusthakotsava Samithi, Kochi, an offshoot of Kurukshethra Prakashan, Kerala, recently distributed free books worth Rs 1,000 to 150 libraries of Kerala. It is the first ever venture of this sort in the history of Kerala on the part of an NGO. Representatives of six libraries from Palakkad, Aluva, Chalakkudy, Kottayam, Alap-puzha and Thrikkakkara received the books from noted Malayalam writer, M.T. Vasudevan Nair. Dr V. Nithyananda Bhat, president of the Samithi, presided over the function. Prof. M. Achuthan, the noted literary critic, delivered the keynote address. E.N. Nandakumar, secretary of the Samithi, Dr Henry Austin, former minister and Prof. Thuravoor Viswam-bharan were also present at the function. Representatives from more than 40 libraries were also present at the function.
