Hundreds of employees under the banner of Delhi State Bank Workers Organisation, a Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS)-affiliated organisation, staged a demonstration at Delhi Secretariat asking the government of Delhi to declare holiday on Holi, Janmashthami, Mahashivratri and Guru Gobind Singh'sbirthday. Addressing the demonstrators, former MP, Sardar Prem Singh ?Sher? said that if four holidays can be declared for less than one per cent Muslim employees, why can'tthe holidays for majority of workers be declared on their festivals. ?Why only one holiday for Sikhs who are in service in a good number?? he asked, warning the government of Delhi to stop appeasement of a particular community. BMS General Secretary, Rajendra Singh Chauhan warned of a massive agitation by BMS if the demand of holidays was not accepted by the Delhi government.
