SHRI Kariya Munda, Minister for Non-conventional Energy Sources has set-up a National Hydrogen Energy Board to guide the Indian Hydrogen Energy Programme. Its first meeting was recently held in New Delhi. It was chaired by Shri Ratan Tata, Chairman, Tata Sons and co-chaired by Shri A. Mahindra, President, CII.
Various issues concerning coordinated development of hydrogen energy programme for India including produc-tion, storage, transport, distribution, safety standards and applications were discussed.
The members of the National Hydrogen Energy Board are from the government, the industry and experts including Shri N.K. Singh, (Energy) Planning Commission; Ratan Tata, Chairman Tata Sons; Mukesh Ambani, Chairman Reliance Industries; A.K. Mahindra, President, CII; Dr Y.K. Modi, President, FICCI; Mahindra K. Sanghi, President, ASSOCHAM; Dr K. Kasturirangan, former Chairman, ISRO; & Chairman IIT, Madras; and Prof. C.N.R. Rao, Chairman IIT, Kanpur. Besides these, other members of the group would be drawn from DST, CSIR and MNES. (FOC)
