Ayodhya: A first-year paramedical student was detained for questioning after a handwritten note allegedly containing information related to bomb-making was recovered from the X-ray department of Rajarshi Dashrath Autonomous State Medical College in Ayodhya, officials said.

The suspicious note was reportedly discovered after the completion of a night shift at the medical college’s X-ray laboratory. Staff members subsequently handed over the note to the college administration, which promptly informed the police about the matter.
The student detained in connection with the incident has been identified as Sarfaraz, a resident of Balrampur district, who is pursuing a laboratory technician course at the medical college.
Suspicious note found after night duty
According to officials, the handwritten material came to light after a night-duty shift in the X-ray laboratory. The contents of the note raised concerns among staff members, following which it was submitted to the medical college administration.
The Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) of the medical college confirmed that the administration immediately alerted the police after the suspicious material was found. Police subsequently detained Sarfaraz for questioning as part of their preliminary investigation.
During questioning, Sarfaraz reportedly told investigators that he had been watching a movie on his laptop during the night duty and had copied information related to bomb-making that appeared in the film onto paper. Police, however, are verifying the explanation and examining the circumstances in which the handwritten material was prepared. The authorities are also looking into whether the material was merely copied from a film, as claimed by the student, or whether there was any other purpose behind recording such information.
SOG, STF, Special Branch and IB question students
The investigation was subsequently expanded, with officials from several security and intelligence agencies questioning the detained student.
Sarfaraz was taken to the police lines, where personnel from the Special Operations Group (SOG), Special Task Force (STF), Special Branch and Intelligence Bureau (IB) questioned him.
Another student who had been on duty alongside Sarfaraz was also questioned by investigators. A third student, who had reportedly left for his hometown after completing the shift, is being contacted as part of the inquiry.
The questioning is aimed at establishing the circumstances surrounding the note, the student’s activities during the night shift and whether anyone else was aware of or connected to the material.
Officials are also expected to establish whether the contents of the note have any connection to an actual plan or threat. The incident has nevertheless prompted heightened scrutiny because the material was recovered from a medical college facility during a night shift, leading the administration to immediately alert law enforcement. The investigation remains underway, and further action will depend on the findings of the police and security agencies involved.
