The main ceremony will be organised at the Maharishi Valmiki Mandir, where a special Abhishek of Maharishi Valmiki’s vigrah will be performed, followed by Shodashopachara Puja in accordance with traditional scriptural rites. The celebrations aim to honour Maharishi Valmiki’s enduring spiritual and literary legacy and commemorate his invaluable contribution to Bharat’s civilisational heritage.

Preparations underway for the celebrations

Dr Nirmala Yadav, a trustee of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, has been entrusted with the responsibility of organising and coordinating the celebrations. She is scheduled to arrive in Ayodhya from Shikohabad on October 22 to oversee the preparations.

A meeting will also be held today to finalise the programme and discuss the arrangements for the event. Dr Yadav will remain in Ayodhya until the celebrations conclude, ensuring coordination of the various activities associated with the occasion.

Revered sants and distinguished representatives of the Valmiki community are being invited to participate in the celebrations. Their presence is expected to lend special significance to the occasion, which will be observed with traditional reverence and devotion.

Maharishi Valmiki, revered as the Adi Kavi, holds a prominent place in Bharat’s literary and spiritual traditions as the revered author of the Ramayana. His timeless composition has shaped generations of devotees and continues to inspire people through its teachings on dharma, righteousness, devotion and the ideals of Bhagwan Shri Ram.

The observance of Maharishi Valmiki’s anniversary at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi complex highlights the continuing relevance of his legacy and the enduring connection between the Ramayana tradition and Bharat’s cultural and spiritual heritage.
