NEW DELHI: RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat interacted with students from Class 10 to postgraduate level at a dialogue programme jointly organised by IILM University and Banyan Tree School in New Delhi, answering their questions on various issues.
Addressing teachers and students, Dr Bhagwat said that, based on his personal experience, the younger generation is more honest than the previous generation and naturally possesses greater courage.
On the issue of brain drain, he urged students to remain connected with their country. He said that while young people may find many opportunities abroad, their identity remains connected to their homeland.
“You will get everything abroad, but your identity is linked to your country. You have received a lot from your country. Our body itself has been nourished by the food and water of Bharat. Keep only what is necessary for your body and dedicate the rest to society and the nation,” he said.
Dr Bhagwat emphasised that the purpose of education is not merely career building but human development. Education, he said, is what distinguishes human beings from animals, and nation-building is possible only through the development of human beings.
Giving examples, he referred to the recently released film ‘Hanuman Ansh’, which features Neem Karoli Baba. He noted that Steve Jobs had also come to meet him. He also referred to Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, the guru of Swami Vivekananda, who did not receive formal school education.
Dr Bhagwat said that Bharat has had many saints who did not receive regular formal education but went on to become leaders of society because of the high level of their humanity. Therefore, he stressed the need for education that develops human qualities alongside modern education.
He further said that Bharat does not need to become merely a military or economic superpower. Rather, the country must be restored to its position as Vishwaguru. The knowledge of humanity, he said, is an essential part of Bharat’s identity.
