A health officer at a community health centre in Indore has been accused of raping a 28-year-old woman officer who worked with him. The woman has alleged that the accused took her to an upper-floor room, locked the door, assaulted her and threatened her with a knife.
According to the police, an FIR has been registered against the accused, identified as Sohail, who has been posted as a health officer at Arogyam Community Health Centre. He has been absconding since the incident.
Woman alleges repeated threats
According to the woman’s complaint, Sohail had been pressuring and threatening her for several days. She told police that he had allegedly threatened to kill her and her family if she did not comply with his demands.
The woman said she had remained silent out of fear.
Taken upstairs on pretext of a visit
According to the complaint, the woman reached the health centre on the morning of August 29. During this time, Sohail asked her to accompany him upstairs for a visit.
She initially refused. The woman alleged that Sohail then questioned why she did not trust him despite having worked with him for several years. He also threatened to complain about her to senior officials.
The woman said she became frightened and eventually accompanied him upstairs.
Door locked from inside
The woman told police that after reaching the upper floor, Sohail allegedly locked the room from inside. She alleged that he then covered her mouth and pushed her to the floor.
According to her complaint, he took out a knife, placed it against her neck and threatened her before sexually assaulting her.
The woman further alleged that the accused threatened to kill her first and then her family if she disclosed the incident to anyone.
Woman informed family after assault
According to the complaint, the accused left after the incident. The woman subsequently informed her family about what had happened.
She then went to the police station accompanied by her family members. Based on her complaint, police registered an FIR against Sohail.
Police investigating, accused absconding
Indore Police said an FIR has been registered and the allegations are being investigated. Police are examining the crime scene and other evidence connected to the case.
The accused is currently absconding, and police teams are searching for him.
