The UGC NET June 2026 result was declared by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on August 28. Results have been announced for 84 subjects, while candidates who appeared for English, Commerce and Sociology will have to wait for the re-conduct examination. NTA’s data shows that 7,73,806 candidates registered for the June session and 6,07,151 appeared for the exam. A total of 1,47,579 candidates have qualified across the three categories, JRF and Assistant Professor, Assistant Professor and PhD admission, and PhD admission. The largest group is the one qualifying for PhD admission only, with 97,434 candidates. Another 45,904 candidates have qualified for Assistant Professor and PhD admission, while 4,241 have qualified for both JRF and Assistant Professor.
The registration figures released by NTA show a higher number of female applicants in the June session. Out of 7,73,806 registered candidates, 4,30,195 were women. Male registrations stood at 3,43,575, while 36 candidates were registered under the third-gender category.

Together, the three categories account for 1,47,579 qualified candidates, or around 1.47 lakh candidates. The category is important because qualifying UGC NET does not mean that every candidate gets JRF. The eligibility and benefits depend on the category mentioned in the result.
Candidates who took the UGC NET exam in English, Commerce and Sociology will not get their June 2026 result with the current result declaration. NTA has scheduled a fresh examination for these three subjects on September 9 and 10, 2026. Their scorecards will be issued after the re-conduct examination. There is also a clarification for candidates waiting for these subjects. Those trying to check their scorecard before the re-examination may see an “Invalid Application Number/Password” message. This does not mean that the application has been cancelled. The result is yet to be released for these subjects.
The UGC NET June 2026 e-certificate release date has not been announced yet. Candidates who have qualified do not need to worry if the certificate is not available along with the result. The scorecard and e-certificate are released separately. The previous cycle gives some idea of the waiting period. The UGC NET June 2025 result was declared in July, while the e-certificate was made available in September 2025. So, candidates may have to wait for some time after the UGC NET result 2026 before the certificate link becomes active. NTA has not, however, given a fixed timeline for the June 2026 certificate.
The UGC NET certificate validity depends on the qualification category.
This is why candidates should check the category mentioned against their name in the result. The three-year period often mentioned in relation to UGC NET applies to the JRF award, not to the Assistant Professor qualification.
