Unity and Oneness are the foundation for protecting and promoting Universal Brotherhood: RSS Sarkaryavah Hosabale

Kashi: RSS Sarkaryawah Dattatreya Hosabale said that Bharat’s unity and sense of oneness are the foundation for protecting and promoting universal brotherhood. Addressing the Raksha Bandhan Utsav organised by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in Tilak Nagar, Kashi Madhya, he said that Bharat has embraced social harmony to protect freedom and equality while following a just path and making fraternity its basis.

Addressing swayamsevaks and Matrushakti at the Dr Sampurnanand Sports Complex in Sigra, he referred to a line from the Yoga Vasistha, which explains that meeting people who are initially not our relatives every day creates closeness and eventually turns them into members of our extended circle. Conversely, abandoning such regular interaction weakens the bond of fraternity.

He said the RSS has a tradition of transforming strangers into acquaintances and acquaintances into friends. Freedom, equality and fraternity have been adopted in different forms by several countries across the world. Where only freedom was given importance, it resulted in licence and unrestrained individualism. Bharatiya culture, he said, has linked fraternity with freedom and equality, with social harmony serving as the foundation of all three.

Sarkaryawah Ji said Hindu culture regards the entire world as one family. Every human being and all living beings are regarded as manifestations of the same Supreme Being, and this sentiment should be embraced with an expansive and generous outlook.

He said distrust in relationships weakens the affectionate bond symbolised by Raksha Bandhan. When society becomes divided, adversarial forces benefit from such divisions. He said the foundation of the idea of universal brotherhood is reflected in the verse from the Bhavishya Purana:

“Yena baddho Bali Raja Danavendro Mahabalah,
Tena Tvam Abhibadhnami Rakshe Ma Chala Ma Chala.”

Explaining the significance, he said that just as King Bali was bound by a bond of affection, the Raksha Sutra binds people together in a relationship of affection and protection. This bond should remain firm and unwavering.

He said that much of the instability witnessed in families and society today is rooted in selfishness. Self-interest should not become a negative tendency or distortion within human beings, he added.

At the beginning of the programme, Sarkaryawah Dattatreya Hosabale Ji, Kashi Madhya Sanghchalak Dr Hemant Gupta Ji and Tilak Nagar Nagar Sanghchalak Pradeep Ji tied the Raksha Sutra to the Bhagwa Dhwaj.

RSS Sarkaryawah Dattatreya Hosabale Ji also paid tribute, on behalf of the entire Sangh Parivar, to those who lost their lives in the floods in Nepal two days ago.

He expressed deep condolences to the families of those who died and said that the Sangh Parivar stands with all those affected by the natural disaster and conveys its heartfelt sympathies to the people facing hardship.
