Gen Z site ‘Jhooth Ki Goonj’ flags 29 of Rahul Gandhi’s 40 ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ claims as false

A Gen Z-run website named Jhooth Ki Goonj has claimed that 29 of 40 statements made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi at his Chhatron Ki Goonj student events were false and the remaining 11 were misleading.

The site says its review covers speeches delivered in Kota, Dehradun, Prayagraj and Pune between June and August 2026 and is backed by 134 sources, including official data.

The speeches, according to the website, ranged across government jobs, unemployment, education, exam governance, coaching costs, and crime and women’s safety statistics. Users on social media circulated the portal as a youth-led accountability tool, while others treated it as political ammunition.

One widely shared post even claimed Gandhi had posted the same website on his Instagram story.

The website says it tracked four statements from the Kota student rally on June 17, which focused on IIT and NEET competition, student intake, coaching institutes, and engineering jobs. It listed 13 statements from the Dehradun rally on July 17 on exam governance, paper-leak convictions, and public-sector hiring. Twelve statements from the Prayagraj rally on August 8 were tied to recruitment, education-budget comparisons, job availability, and administrative policy.

Eleven statements from the Pune rally on August 22, the site says, dealt with public safety, gender metrics, crime reporting, and the size of the gig workforce.

THIS IS HUGE ‼️

Indian nationalist GenZ have launched a new website exposing Rahul Gandhi’s false claims.

Claims marked “false” are described by the platform as assertions it says are contradicted by public databases, government records, or official archives. Among the examples it highlights are Gandhi’s alleged remark that 6 per cent of Indian women are “actively raped,” which the site says is not supported by National Crime Records Bureau data; figures on school closures and dropouts that it says clash with UDISE+ records; conviction and victim numbers on paper leaks that it says conflict with court filings; coaching-spend estimates that it says do not match tax and revenue data; and vacancy numbers that it says overstate frozen central and state government posts.

Statements labelled “misleading” are defined by the site as claims that contain some numbers or a kernel of truth but omit context or stretch the data. It places in this category remarks that 80 per cent of women face harassment and 29 per cent face physical violence, saying these appear drawn from limited surveys rather than uniform national figures.

It also flags the assertion that 99 per cent of violence against women goes unreported as a misreading of filing rates versus estimated unreported crime. Claims that 60 per cent of women cannot go out alone and that 45 per cent of female students drop out solely because of marriage are, according to the site, not supported in that form by UDISE+ and socio-economic datasets.

Assertions about the exact size and wages of gig and platform workers are mapped by the website against NITI Aayog briefs, which it says show inflated figures.

The political reaction has been predictable. Supporters of the Congress have dismissed the portal as partisan, while critics of Gandhi have treated the tally as proof of habitual exaggeration.
