As many as 320 Hindu Rohingya refugee families living in the Kutupalong area of Ukhia upazila in Cox’s Bazar district, Bangladesh, have been deprived of food assistance, medical care and other humanitarian support for the past four months, leaving hundreds of families in severe hardship.
The affected families stated that the deprivation began after their names were removed from the food assistance list in 2026. Since then, they have been surviving without regular food rations, healthcare or other essential services. Many families, residing in rented accommodation outside the refugee camp, said they had repeatedly approached the authorities but had not received any lasting relief.
Members of the Hindu Rohingya community, including Asis Sheel and Susudhan Dhar, said they had repeatedly raised the issue with the Camp In-Charge of the Kutupalong Hindu Rohingya Camp, Shariful Islam, through written and verbal complaints, but no permanent solution had been provided. Local resident Babul Sharma also urged the authorities to address the humanitarian crisis faced by the affected families.
The families have appealed to the concerned government authorities and humanitarian organisations to restore food assistance, medical care and other essential services.

A Hindu family in Gonda district, Uttar Pradesh, was allegedly assaulted after requesting a group of Muslim men participating in a Muharram procession not to beat drums outside their house as they were mourning the death of a family member.
The incident occurred on 19 June after Sarita Devi, the mother of complainant Shiva Purwar, passed away. According to the complaint lodged at Karnailganj Police Station, a group began beating drums outside the family’s residence at around 9 p.m. When family members requested them to refrain from doing so, an altercation followed.
The complaint alleged that members of the group hurled communal abuses, forcibly entered the house, vandalised property, assaulted family members with sticks and rods, and threatened them with
“Bangladesh-Pakistan style” violence. Ramawati, Rajan, Rinku, Lucky Jaiswal, Munna Maurya and Kiran Maurya sustained injuries in the attack. The family demanded strict legal action, expressing concern that inaction could escalate tensions in the village.
Police initiated an investigation into the incident. Karnailganj Station House Officer Narendra Pratap Rai said police personnel had been deployed in the village to maintain law and order and that further action would be taken based on the findings of the investigation. Police also stated that efforts were underway to resolve the matter through mutual settlement.

Trusting his claimed identity, she entered into a relationship with him, which culminated in a marriage solemnised according to Hindu rituals at an Arya Samaj temple.
The woman stated that she later discovered her husband was actually Atiq Khan. She alleged that after his identity was revealed, Atiq Khan and his parents pressured her to convert to Islam and undergo nikah, making the continuation of the marriage conditional upon accepting Islam. She further stated that she began observing Islamic religious practices under this pressure. In 2013, she also came to know that Atiq Khan’s first wife and child were living in Delhi and alleged that her money and jewellery had been transferred to the first wife.
The matter resurfaced after the woman travelled to Delhi and confronted Atiq Khan in the Sagarpur area, where videos of the confrontation circulated on social media. During the confrontation, she alleged that Atiq Khan had married a third woman after abandoning his previous wives and accused him and his family of forcing women into prostitution. The victim is an adult Hindu woman, while the accused is identified as Muslim man Atiq Khan. At the time of reporting, no confirmed case status was available.

A Hindu woman was allegedly abducted and pressured to convert to Islam by a Muslim man, identified as Alam, in Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh. Police arrested the accused after an alleged attempt to solemnise a court marriage was stopped at the Barabanki district court.
According to the complaint, Alam, a vegetable vendor from the Ramnagar area, allegedly lured the woman away from her family, kept her under his control, and pressured her to both convert her religion and marry him. On 19 June 2026, he reportedly brought her to the district court to complete marriage formalities. Lawyers present at the court became suspicious, questioned the couple, and informed the police after concerns regarding religious conversion emerged.
Police reached the court premises before the marriage could be completed and detained the accused. Based on the victim’s complaint, a case was registered against Alam under provisions relating to abduction, attempted forced religious conversion, criminal intimidation, and other relevant sections of law. According to the complaint, the 16-year-old girl came into contact with Dilshad through a local woman, Sapna, who introduced her to Dilshad and his family, including his brother Chand and father Ansar. The family allegedly pressured the girl to marry Dilshad and convert to Islam.
When the girl’s mother objected, she alleged that Dilshad, Chand and Ansar verbally abused her and used casteist slurs. The complaint further stated that the accused later threatened to kill the family and continued to intimidate them after the matter was reported to the police. A woman identified as Asma, who introduced herself as a journalist, was also accused of threatening the family.

He further claimed that while he was in jail, the accused took his wife, obtained documents related to his shop, and arranged for the shop to be rented out. Ghosh stated that despite being the lawful tenant of the shop since 1996, he was pressured to pay money to the accused, who allegedly described it as extortion rather than rent. He also alleged that they threatened him to leave the area and warned that his family would continue paying them even in his absence.
Before consuming poison, Ghosh appealed for the video to be shared widely and sought action against those he accused of intimidation and extortion. 37. Hindu family attacked, women molested by Muslim mob in Bangladesh’s Sirajganj
A Hindu family was allegedly attacked by a mob in the Ghoshpara area of Tarash Upazila in Sirajganj district, Bangladesh, on 20 June 2026. The attackers, reportedly led by Saiful Islam and Saidul Islam, allegedly stormed the family’s residence at around 5:30 pm under the pretext of encroaching on their property. The victims stated that attempts had been made for a long time to seize their property and that the assault was part of that effort. They demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible, a fair investigation, and protection for their lives, home and property.

In Rawatpur, Kanpur, a 17-year-old Hindu girl was allegedly abducted and held captive for around six to seven days by Armaan and others. During that period, she was reportedly pressured to convert to Islam, forced to wear a burqa, made to recite the Kalma, and compelled to consume cow meat.
According to her account, she had earlier met Armaan at Kargil Park in the Motijheel area and was later called to the Salt Factory crossing on 21 June 2026. She said she was then taken around the area before being moved to a house in a Muslim-dominated locality, where she was illegally detained.
The victim said she was burned with hot tongs, beaten, and threatened after refusing to comply. She later escaped and returned home on 27 June 2026 in a distressed condition, after which her family filed a complaint and police registered an FIR.
Armaan was arrested, the victim’s statement was recorded, and she underwent a medical examination. Police also named his parents and sister in the case, and further legal action is under way.

Among them was The News Minute Editor-in-Chief Dhanya Rajendran, who reshared a post describing the alleged incident as a “horrendous and shameful act.” The original post also referred to “Jai Shri Ram” as a form of “brand terrorism.” The viral claims accused Hindu organisations and political leaders of promoting religious extremism.
Subsequent fact-checks and reverse image searches established that the video originated in Bangladesh in September 2025 and was related to an allegation of theft involving a girl identified as Anika at Mirpur College Market. Investigations further found that the original video contained no “Jai Shri Ram” chants and that the audio had been digitally superimposed before being circulated in India.
After the video’s origin was established, the repost shared by Dhanya Rajendran was removed from her social media profile. However, no public clarification or apology was issued. The false narrative had already spread widely before it was debunked.
The case remains without a formal complaint. The reported perpetrators include multiple individuals involved in creating and amplifying the fabricated narrative through social media.
40. Hindu Girl Abducted, Tortured and Pressured to Convert in Kanpur
A 17-year-old Hindu girl was allegedly abducted and held captive for six to seven days in Rawatpur, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, where she was subjected to physical torture and pressured to convert to Islam. The incident occurred on 21 June 2026.
The girl stated that she had become acquainted with a man identified as Armaan after meeting him at Kargil Park. On the day of the incident, he allegedly called her to the Salt Factory crossing and arrived with two associates in a car. Instead of taking her home as requested, they allegedly took her to a house in a Muslim-dominated locality, where she was confined for several days.
During her captivity, the victim alleged that she was forced to wear a burqa, recite the Kalma, sign a document written in Urdu, and consume cow meat. She further alleged that she was physically assaulted, burned with hot tongs, beaten by members of the accused’s family, and threatened that her family would be kidnapped and killed if she refused to comply. She also claimed she was warned that she would be sold or taken to Saudi Arabia and was kept hungry during her confinement.
The girl escaped on 27 June and informed her family, following which a complaint was lodged with the police. An FIR was registered, the victim’s statement was recorded, and she underwent a medical examination.
Police arrested the main accused, Armaan. A case was registered against him, his parents, and his sister, while further investigation and legal proceedings remain underway.
41. Hindu Family Alleges Conversion Through Promises of Miracle Healing in Chhattisgarh
A Hindu family in Kanker district, Chhattisgarh, alleged that they were induced to convert to Christianity after Christian evangelists promised miraculous healing for an ailing family member. The family stated that they had originally practised their ancestral Hindu and tribal faith before coming into contact with Christian preachers. The matter gained public attention after the death of a male family member, when a dispute arose regarding whether his last rites should be conducted according to Christian customs or the family’s restored ancestral traditions. Following discussions involving the family, village representatives and local authorities, permission was granted for the burial, and the final rites were conducted under administrative supervision in accordance with the resolution reached.
