Nagpur: RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat on August 15 hoisted the Tiranga at the RSS headquarters in Nagpur on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day and reminded the gathering that the national flag reminds citizens of the values of “sacrifice, dutifulness and knowledge”.
Speaking at the event, Bhagwat said, “This is a matter of pride and excitement for all of us. If we count 1857, then for ninety years, we have made sacrifices in various ways and our forefathers gave us the freedom to do so. The pride of that sacrifice is in our hearts.”
He said debates, dialogues, opposition and protests are all part of democracy, but people must remain mindful of their responsibilities.
Dr Bhagwat said different ideas and views are natural in a democracy, where people can present their arguments and respond to others. He said opposing views and raising questions in the public interest are necessary and should be done strongly.
Addressing an Independence Day event at Kasturchand Park, Dr Bhagwat, said, “There will be different ideas and different ways of expressing those ideas. This is democracy. Therefore, there is dialogue, debate and a process of presenting one’s arguments and responding to those of others. Conflicting viewpoints will naturally emerge, and at times, opposition is also necessary. We must put our strength behind them.”
Referring to BR Ambedkar’s speeches during the making of the Constitution, Dr Bhagwat said the country can follow the path he showed on these issues.“There may be protests and movements, everything is part of democracy. But while doing so, we must always remain mindful of our responsibilities. When Dr BR Ambedkar spoke while the Constitution-makers were giving the country its Constitution, he addressed all these aspects in his two speeches. We can follow that path,” he said.
Dr Bhagwat also stressed the need to engage and guide Bharat’s youth, saying they are the country’s demographic dividend and can become a major asset if nurtured well.Stressing the need to engage and guide youth, Dr Bhagwat described our young population as the country’s demographic dividend. He said that if the youth are nurtured well, they can become an asset to the nation. He said today’s youth will become the elderly generation in about 30 years and will, in turn, have to be mindful of and considerate towards the generation that follows them. Dr Bhagwat said, “The way a nation gains Independence through hard work, and after Independence, it becomes prosperous and secure, this Kesariya Rang reminds us of the need for sacrifice.”
He further said, “By doing this, by living a life of sacrifice, by living a life of dutifulness, knowledge, peace prevails in society and the mind becomes pure. This is the white colour of purity.”
Referring to the green colour of the Tricolour, Dr Bhagwat said, “We get the third colour of prosperity.” On the importance of unity, he said, “When we are different as individuals, our thoughts will also be different. Everything will be fine. But this is the expression of unity.”
Kolkata: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale on August 15 hoisted the Tricolour at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) office in Kolkata on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day and called on people to contribute to the nation’s development and uphold its unity, integrity and security.
Speaking to reporters after the event, Hosabaleji said, “Everyone should pledge today to protect the unity, integrity and security of the nation and empower it in every way.” Emphasising the role of citizens in nation-building, Dattatreya Hosabale added, “Everyone should contribute to the development of the nation and fulfil the aspirations of the freedom fighters.”
NEW DELHI: On the occasion of Bharat’s 80th Independence Day, a flag-hoisting ceremony was organised at Keshav Kunj, Delhi, under the aegis of Shri Keshav Smarak Samiti on August 15, 2026. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Sah Sarkaryavah Shri Krishna Gopal Ji hoisted the national flag and addressed the gathering.
At the beginning of the ceremony, the national song Vande Mataram was sung, followed by the hoisting of the national flag and the national anthem. A contingent of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) saluted the flag.
Extending heartfelt Independence Day greetings to the people of the country, Sah Sarkaryavah Krishna Gopal Ji said that Bharat is celebrating its 80th anniversary of Independence. On this very day, August 15, 1947, the country became independent after centuries of subjugation. Behind this Independence lies nearly a thousand years of struggle for freedom. Thousands and lakhs of people sacrificed their lives for it.
He said that first of all, we should remember those great men and women who sacrificed their lives or remained behind the walls of prisons throughout their lives. He recalled the heroism of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Maharana Pratap, Prithviraj Chauhan, Rana Sanga, Raja Dahir of Sindh, Raja Anangpal of Delhi, Chhatrasal Maharaj, Chinnama of South and those associated with the Vijayanagara Empire who sacrificed their lives while fighting for freedom. This struggle for freedom continued in different parts of the country.
After the British arrived, this struggle began again. Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Lala Lajpat Rai, Bipin Chandra Pal, Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, Bhagat Singh, Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaqullah Khan, Chandrashekhar Azad and people from every province of the country who continued the struggle for a long time, along with the mothers and sisters of the nation—we remember all of them whose sacrifices made this Independence possible, he said. Dr Krishna Gopal Ji said that after Independence, the country progressed rapidly. “Our country is now moving forward as a great nation. On this Independence Day, I extend my greetings to all the citizens of the country and wish that the entire nation moves forward united and presents a beautiful ideal before the world.”
