Rajasthan: Jaipur villagers reject CJP’s BJP link claim, say they chased away Ashutosh Ranka’s team to protect school

Jaipur: Villagers of Rampura Kanwarpura in Jaipur’s Bagru Assembly constituency have rejected claims by Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) leader Ashutosh Ranka that the BJP was behind the confrontation with CJP members, asserting that the villagers acted independently to protect a government primary school used by children from the locality.

The villagers said their opposition was driven by concerns over the school building and not by any political affiliation. Local resident Anu Sharma said the villagers had no connection with the BJP and had gathered because they did not want the school to be damaged when repair work had already been approved. “We are villagers, not from the BJP. Our children study here, so we opposed those who wanted to demolish the school,” Sharma said.

Villagers question CJP’s intervention

According to Sharma, funds for repairing the government primary school have already been sanctioned. Since the building requires repairs, around 20-25 children are currently attending classes at a cattle shelter, while some students are studying at nearby houses. The villagers said they were therefore concerned about the consequences of any attempt to demolish the existing structure before the sanctioned repair work was completed.

“CJP members are trying to demolish it. There are small children from our locality. Around 20-25 children come here; where will they go to study?” Sharma said.

The villagers alleged that the CJP team’s arrival and its reported attempt to intervene in the school matter angered locals, who did not want outsiders interfering with an issue they said directly affected their children’s education.

CJP members chased away by villagers

The confrontation took place on Friday morning, August 21, when a group of CJP members reached Rampura Kanwarpura to inspect the government primary school. Ashutosh Ranka was also expected to join the visit.
As word of the team’s arrival spread, villagers gathered near the approach road and began checking vehicles entering the area. They later staged a sit-in outside the school and opposed the CJP members’ entry. The situation escalated into a heated confrontation, following which villagers pushed and chased the CJP members away from the area.

The locals maintained that their actions were a spontaneous response to what they perceived as an attempt by the CJP team to interfere with the school building despite repair funds having already been approved.
Sharma also confirmed that a scuffle took place involving two women who had accompanied the visiting group.

“We fought. Two women came here, so we got into a fight with them. Nothing else happened,” she said.
According to the villagers, they had already asked the CJP members not to visit the site, but the group arrived in the morning despite their objections.

The villagers have since rejected the attempt to portray the confrontation as a BJP-backed action, maintaining that no political party directed them. They said their stand was solely about protecting the school and ensuring that local children do not lose access to education.

The episode has also raised questions over the CJP’s intervention in a local school dispute, particularly when the villagers claim that repair funds had already been sanctioned and the issue could have been addressed through the appropriate administrative channels.
