Tamil Nadu: “Education should shape nation-builders with character, not just professionals,” says Governor Arlekar

Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar emphasised that education should nurture character, constitutional values and national unity while addressing a conference on minority educational institutions in Chennai.

TN Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar underscored that education must not merely create successful professionals; it must nurture individuals with character, compassion, constitutional values, and an unwavering commitment to national unity.

While addressing the National Conference on “The Role of Minority Educational Institutions in Unity, Cultural Diversity and National Building: Viksit Bharat @ 2047” at B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science & Technology, Chennai, on August 3, he said, “Let us work together to ensure that every educational institution becomes a beacon of excellence, social harmony, and service, contributing meaningfully to the collective aspiration of a developed, inclusive, and self-reliant Bharat.”

The Governor said, “As India marches towards the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047, educational institutions have a transformative role in shaping enlightened, innovative, and socially responsible citizens.”

Arlekar said, “Minority educational institutions have made invaluable contributions to nation-building by fostering academic excellence, inclusivity, and mutual respect while celebrating India’s rich cultural diversity. Our education system provides a forward-looking roadmap to build an ecosystem rooted in our civilisational values while embracing global standards. By promoting multidisciplinary learning, research, innovation, entrepreneurship, skill development, and the Indian Knowledge Systems, we can empower our youth to become confident leaders and responsible nation-builders.”

The Governor said, “Education must not merely create successful professionals; it must nurture individuals with character, compassion, constitutional values, and an unwavering commitment to national unity.”

In another event, the Governor paid rich tributes to freedom fighter Dheeran Chinnamalai.

The Governor said, “On the Remembrance Day of the great freedom fighter Dheeran Chinnamalai, I pay my humble tributes to the fearless son of Bharat, whose indomitable courage, unwavering patriotism, and supreme sacrifice remain a shining chapter in our nation’s freedom struggle. His relentless resistance against colonial rule and his inspiring leadership continue to motivate generations to uphold the values of courage, selfless service, and love for the motherland. May his enduring legacy inspire us all to work with dedication for a strong, united, and developed Bharat.”

On Sunday, Governor Arlekar participated in the launch of the “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan”.

The Governor administered the pledge on “Gen-Z Against Addiction” to My Bharat volunteers and students at Sri Sairam Engineering College, Chennai, on August 2.

A Lok Bhavan post on X said, “Prime Minister of India, Thiru. Narendra Modi, presided over the event virtually. The Hon’ble Governor emphasised the crucial role of youth in shaping a healthy and progressive nation and called upon students to actively contribute towards building a drug-free society. The pledge reflects a strong collective commitment to foster awareness, responsibility, and positive change among the younger generation, in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat.”
