NEW DELHI: Nivedita Menon, who is an ex-professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University, has sparked a massive row after she said in an interview that the CJP protest provided relief to the Muslims in India and referred to Bharat as a “Manhus Desh.” According to Menon, in the last 12 years they were made to feel that they would be bulldozed.
Menon’s remarks about referring to Bharat as Manhus drew sharp reactions from people from all walks of life as they denounced her for demeaning Bharat.
One of the prominent personalities who lamented Nivedita Menon for calling Bharat “Manhus” is former cricketer Ajay Jadeja, who minced no words and said that she should be ashamed of calling India an inauspicious country.
Former BJP National Secretary, Sunil Deodhar, slammed Menon. Drawing parallels between her name and that of Sister Nivedita, an Irish–Indian philosopher, social activist, and disciple of Swami Vivekananda, Deodhar ji stated that she left her own country and resided in Bharat, and that the basis of her thoughts was Hindutva. He added that unfortunately, Nivedita Menon, an Ex-JNU professor having a similar name, is spewing venom and bringing bad name to Sister Nivedita also. He added, “If according to Nivedita, Muslims of Bharat are feeling that Bharat is a “manhus desh”, then Mohammad Ali Jinnah had already appealed to leave Bharat and join Pakistan in 1947.”
Prof. Niranjan Kumar, a Senior Professor at Delhi University, denounced Nivedita Menon’s remarks and stated that, “Nivedita Menon and others like her were born in this country, grew up in its air, soil, and water, and enjoyed the privileges of government service funded by the taxes paid by the people of India. They should remain indebted to this nation. In fact, every citizen owes a debt to the country. The saying aptly describes people like her: they bite the hand that feeds them.”
Menon, by calling Bharat an inauspicious country, has tarnished the image of Bharat and has proved that she is a prominent face of the urban naxals. Her remarks come at a time when India is leading globally, whether it is international politics, culture, economy, sports etc.
Ratan Sharda Ji, who is an author, columnist and a panellist on television debates, took to X and slammed Nivedita Menon, where he said, “ When they don’t have monopoly over speech, writing and narrative, then this nation becomes ‘manhoos’!! Wah!!”
Today, in times of crisis, the world turns towards Bharat to resolve international conflicts amicably. Moreover, Bharat is treading on the path to becoming the world’s largest economy. At this juncture if someone is calling Bharat manhus, then one needs to do some introspection.
Prof Niranjan hit back at Nivedita and said, “Those who call their own country ‘cursed’ need to know that, under the influence of their ideological, cultural, and political forefathers—such as Macaulay, Marx, and others— many countries of the Third World were devastated. These nations were plundered, and millions of people were killed, something that Bharat never did. Moreover, instead of appreciating India, they glorify China or pat the back of Pakistan and Bangladesh. I firmly believe that such people should go and live in those “great” countries like China or Pakistan, leaving Bharat.”
It is essential to mention that the Bharat to which Nivedita Menon is referring as ‘Manhus’, it is the same country which rose up to the occasion at the time of Covid 19. Not only did Bharat save the lives of its own people by providing free vaccination, but also those of the world. Lately, when nations like Turkey, which are historically hostile to India and were hit by a devastating earthquake, it was Bharat who came to the forefront and was among the first countries to provide aid and relief.
Prof Niranjan set the facts clear before Nivedita Menon and stated, “She should also know that when her “glorious” countries, China and many so-called liberal countries, turned their backs on the world during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was India that stepped forward to provide COVID-19 vaccines to countries across the globe.”
Kanchan Gupta, Senior Advisor at Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India expressed his views as to how JNU turned into the breeding ground for the leftists and how they painted the whole education system into red.
Kanchan Guptaji was expressing his views with regard to the obnoxious statement made by Nivedita Menon wherein she called Bharat a “Manhus” nation. Speaking about the background of JNU and the leftist education syastem, Kanchan Gupta said, “Saiyid Nurul Hasan, Marxist historian from AMU and SOAS was made Minister for Education, Social Welfare and Culture by Mrs Indira Gandhi and he served in that post from 1971-77. In a mere six years he painted Bharat’s edu landscape Red, creating leftie gurus like Irfan Habib and Romila Thapar and enabling the Left to capture all groves of academe with predictable consequences. Incestuous ideological cohabitation required the shutting of windows and minds to promote the fungal growth of Left-wing bigotry, hate and intolerance of the other.”
Nivedita Menon’s Past Record of Anti-India Rants
It is not for the first time that Nivedita Menon has stirred a row with her anti-Bharat stance. In the past, she had also done so. In 2016, she was a prominent face of the tukdey tukdey gang and was involved in raising Azadi slogans. In fact, she had openly said that India illegally occupied Kashmir.
In 2017, she lived up to her reputation of demeaning the Indian Army when she said that the army was merely working to earn their livelihood and not to serve the nation. This remark was made by Nivedita Menon at a national seminar organised at Jai Narain Vyas University (JNVU), Jodhpur, where she was among the keynote speakers. At the same seminar, she had no qualms in displaying a distorted flag of Bharat.
During times when efforts are being made to create awareness about Love Jihad and prevent Hindu girls from falling soft targets to Islamists, it was then that Nivedita Menon, during a podcast with The Wire’s Arfa Khanum Sherwani, justified “Love Jihad”. She, along with Khanum, mocked the Hindu men and said that the Hindu girls fell for Muslim men since they did not find them attractive.

These are just a few instances which expose Nivedita’s hatred for Bharat and who continues to pew venom against Bharat, the glory of which is being recognised by the world.
Prof Niranjan has rightly said that,“Nivedita Menon and her ecosystem should remember that India was once known as the Sone Ki Chidiya, a land of immense prosperity, while your political and ideological predecessors came here as plunderers. India was called the Jagadguru (Teacher of the World), where people from many countries came to seek knowledge.
This is the land of Krishna, whose Bhagavad Gita has taught the world the distinction between righteousness and unrighteousness. This is not the land of your Macaulay, Marx, or Genghis Khan; it is the land of Buddha, Gandhi, and Vivekananda, whose ideas continue to guide the world.”
It is high time that the youth of Bharat understands that urban Naxals like Nivedita Menon are not theor well-wishers. They use the youth merely as tools to fulfil their own vested interests and of those who are residing abroad. In the name of free speech and i an endeavour to sound cool they mislead the youth and go all out disconnect them from their own rich culture, traditions and heritage.
