India’s legendary street food culture has once again earned global recognition, with Mumbai, Delhi and Jaipur featuring among the World’s Best Street Food Cities 2026, according to the latest ranking released by Time Out. The recognition highlights India’s unmatched culinary diversity, where every street corner tells a story through flavour, tradition and local identity.
The annual list celebrates cities where street food is not merely a quick meal but an essential part of everyday life and cultural heritage. Standing alongside some of Asia’s biggest culinary powerhouses, the three Indian cities have secured their place among the world’s finest destinations for affordable and authentic food experiences.
Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City claimed the top spot this year, followed by Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia and Jakarta in Indonesia. The ranking recognises cities that offer vibrant street food scenes, iconic local dishes and culinary traditions that continue to attract both locals and international travellers.
Among the Indian entries, Mumbai ranked 10th, with its bustling streets serving iconic favourites such as vada pav, pav bhaji, bhel puri and an array of regional snacks that perfectly capture the city’s fast-paced lifestyle. Often described as the financial capital’s unofficial cuisine, these dishes have become symbols of Mumbai’s identity.
Delhi also earned global praise for its rich and diverse street food culture. From the crowded lanes of Chandni Chowk to neighbourhood markets across the capital, the city continues to draw food lovers with beloved classics including golgappa, chole bhature, chaat and succulent kebabs. The capital’s ability to blend flavours from across India has made it one of the country’s most celebrated food destinations.
Meanwhile, Jaipur secured its place on the prestigious list for preserving the rich flavours of Rajasthan through its vibrant street food traditions. The Pink City impressed with specialties such as pyaaz kachori, mirchi vada and an assortment of traditional sweets that continue to attract visitors from across India and beyond.
