Across the week of May 25 to May 31, 2026, a series of incidents spanning India, Bangladesh, and Nepal’s neighbouring region paint a disturbing picture of escalating communal friction, repeated temple desecrations, targeted violence, and alleged organised attempts at religious conversion. From attacks on Hindu households and temples to allegations of deception, forced conversions, and online religious provocation, the reported events reflect a pattern of recurring tensions affecting Hindu communities across multiple regions.
Several cases involve violence triggered during religious festivals such as Eid al-Adha and Bakrid, where disputes reportedly escalated into assaults, killings, and intimidation. In parallel, multiple incidents of temple desecration and the placement of animal remains at or near Hindu places of worship have triggered widespread outrage and local unrest.
Equally significant are repeated allegations of conversion-linked inducement campaigns, where vulnerable Hindu villagers are reportedly targeted through promises of financial aid, medical support, or marriage. In multiple states, such cases have led to police interventions, arrests, and ongoing investigations.
Social media has also emerged as a flashpoint, with several arrests linked to posts targeting Hindu deities, while counter-allegations of bias in public discourse and commentary have further intensified debate around religious sensitivity in digital spaces.
The detailed incidents from March 25 to March 31, 2026, are given below.
