Pakistani National Gets Indian Passport with Kerala Police Help in Kannur – BJP Demands Sedition Probe & Deportation
Keralam’s BJP Kannur North district president K.K. Vinodkumar has demanded that criminal cases of sedition and treason be registered against a young woman from Kannur, alleging that she concealed her Pakistani citizenship and illegally obtained an Indian passport.
Addressing a press conference, Vinodkumar claimed that the woman, a native of Kannadipparambu in Kannur district, is the daughter of a Pakistani national who has reportedly been residing in India for the past 20 years. He alleged that serious lapses by the Kannur police enabled her to remain in the district and secure official documents, raising suspicions of official complicity.
The BJP leader also questioned the district administration over what he described as contradictory official responses regarding Pakistani nationals residing in Kannur.
According to Vinodkumar, the BJP had submitted a complaint to the Kannur District Collector on May 5, 2025, shortly after the Pahalgam terror attack, seeking action against Pakistani nationals allegedly residing illegally in the district. However, in a reply dated July 17, 2026, the District Collector stated that no illegal Pakistani nationals were living within the jurisdictions of the Kannur Rural or Kannur City Police districts.
Vinodkumar pointed to another official communication from the Kannur City Police Commissioner dated October 24, 2025, which stated that 68 Pakistani nationals were residing within the limits of the Kannur City Police Commissionerate on Long Term Visas (LTVs). He alleged that the differing official communications raised serious questions about the verification process and monitoring of foreign nationals.
The BJP leader further claimed that sections of the police force were extending protection to illegal Pakistani immigrants and demanded a comprehensive investigation into the alleged issuance of Indian identity documents, including passports, to foreign nationals. He also sought action against officials found responsible for any lapses.
As per the Police Commissioner’s communication cited by Vinodkumar, the 68 Pakistani nationals identified in Kannur were holders of valid Long-Term Visas issued earlier, indicating that they were residing in India under an authorised visa category. The allegations regarding the young woman’s citizenship status, passport acquisition and alleged illegal stay have not been independently verified, and there has been no official statement from the authorities responding to Vinodkumar’s latest claims.
