Police raided the residence of CJP operative Mohammad Junaid and seized financial documents to investigate
NEW DELHI: During the ongoing crackdown on NEET-UG movement, the Uttar Pradesh Police conducted a raid on the Ghaziabad residence of Mohammad Junaid, a key political volunteer for the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) involved in fueling the ongoing agitation at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.
Law enforcement agencies, acting on investigative leads into the coordination and funding mechanisms behind the sustained protests, raided Junaid’s home on the evening of July 23. Police taken his father, Mustafa, and brother into custody for questioning, alongside seizing financial documentation including bank passbooks and identification cards to trace potential illicit funding streams linked to the ongoing mobilisation.
The investigative net has reportedly broadened to neighboring Meerut, as authorities track wider logistical networks assisting in prolonging the high-profile demonstrations.
While Junaid has attempted to downplay his involvement as mere “humanitarian aid” claiming he was simply distributing food and water investigators are scrutinising the CJP’s strategic deployment of ground operatives to capitalise on student dissatisfaction and high-ranking officials, including Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Rather than cooperating with law enforcement inquiries into public order disruptions and suspicious logistical backings, the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) immediately launched an aggressive political offensive on social media to shield its operative. In a belligerent statement posted on X, the CJP accused state police of “victimisation” and threatened legal warfare, effectively politicising standard police procedures and attempting to obstruct an active investigation.
“Instead of going after criminals, UP Police is wasting its time going after our volunteer… We will never let them victimise him or his family,” the CJP posted, attempting to deflect attention from their role in orchestrating the agitation.
