NEW DELHI: The ongoing protest at Jantar Mantar by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) is definitely not treading on the path to air the concerns of the students and protect their interests. On visiting the site of the protest at Jantar Mantar one got to see that the large gathering which had assembled was merely indulging in sloganeering for the sake of it. Moreover, multiple groups had, to an extent, hijacked the core issue as they were more vocal about their demands.
Some of the groups or organisations that were present at the CJP protest to address students’ issues included those belonging to the Krantakri Yuva Sanghathan (KYS), popularly known as KYS. Along with them were the supporters of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI), the All-India Students’ Association (AISA).
The supporters of KYS occupied the street outside Jantar Mantar, and they were seen shouting slogans like “Jai Bhim” Jai Bhim.” Some of the supporters of KYS were seen holding posters calling for the disbanding of the National Testing Agency (NTA), the body that is responsible for conducting exams like NEET 2026 and JEE Main 2026. Apart from that, some posters stated that Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan should resign. However, when they were told that the re-exam was successfully conducted and the result was out, so what was the need for the minister to resign, the so-called protesters started shouting slogans against Prime Minister Modi. It seems like parrots all of them were trained to say one thing that the NEET 2026 paper was leaked and the education minister should resign.
It was not just the KYS but also the AISA and SFI who, without providing any foolproof plan or suggestion to address the bigger issue, were literally beating about the bush. When such people did not have any substantial answer to questions, along with their supporters, they started shouting slogans, mocking the person who is asking the questions, and one of their so-called leaders would scream their lungs out simply to keep the crowd engaged.
One of the persons who had come to attend the protest to see what was happening stated that they were trying to mobilise people from JNU and disrupt classes. Most of the students were not interested in taking part at this protest in Jantar Mantar
NFIW use protest platform & demand 33 per cent reservation for women
Apart from the supporters of these student organisations who were at the protest site and claimed that they wanted to “secure the future of the students”, there was another group that is National Federation of Indian Women (NFIW), who also did not want to miss onto the opportunity to put forward the demand for the immediate “implementation of 33 per cent reservation for women in the parliament and state assemblies” by delinking the quota from delimitation and census exercises, near Jantar Mantar, in New Delhi.
However, what is important to mention here is that apparently, they had sought permission from Delhi Police, which they were not granted on July 18. The other pertinent question is why they were using the platform to ask for the redressal of their demand for 33 per cent reservation for women in the parliament and in state assemblies. This clearly shows that they had nothing to do with the problems that are facing the students and did not want to be party to the solution-finding process. Also, the Delhi Police needs to look into why, after no permission was granted, the NFIW supporters were there

Another notable thing that was observed at the site of the protest that was organised by CJP was that there were volunteers of the Congress Sewa Dal who were seen distributing water to the members of the NIFW. It should be remembered here that it was the Congress itself that voted against the Women’s Reservation Bill during the last Parliament session.
Presence of Islamists and Burqa-Clad Women
Burqa-clad women and someone wearing a hijab were also seen at the NEET protest site. None of them was willing to speak about the problems of the students or what action should be taken to prevent such paper leaks. They were only ranting that Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan must resign and were also shouting derogatory slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Muslim men was seen distributing food to those who had come to the protest site. Apart from this, the group at the protest site were least interested in the core issue.
What do farmers have to do with the NEET Exam Protest?
Bharatiya Kisan Union (Charuni faction), led by farmer leader Gurnam Singh Charuni along with his supporters too had stated that they would extend support to the CJP. It is baffling why a farmers’ union should come and protest for the rights of the students. Some of the farmers stated that even though they are not directly connected to the cause of the students, they have come over there to extend solidarity with the students and the CJP.
Nihangs Brandishing Swords and Threatening Police Personnel
With the entry of a wide array of groups and organisations at the CJP protest, it has become clearly evident that the sinister forces are working towards creating a law and order problem in the country. The language used by them clearly shows that they are here to work for their sinister motives, and they have no qualms in taking law and order in their own hands.

After listening to the open threat by the Nihangs, one can clearly gauge that they have nothing to do with the students. Also, why are these Nihangs not raising their voice against the paper leak that has happened in Punjab and are travelling all the way to Delhi?
At Jantar Mantar, CJP protesters molested female journalists, hit male reporters
One of the reporters of a news channel spoke to Organiser and said that it was a horrific experience to see how the CJP protesters were “heckling and molesting” the female journalists who had come to cover the protest. The reporter told Organiser that it was “so shameful” that he had no words to describe the act. He further said that they were mincing no words by passing lewd remarks at the females and also the journalists.
When the journalists confronted them with tough questions, the protesters started raising slogans by calling them “Godi media” and said to them that we will give you Rs 500 and you can change your narrative.
How CJP Misinformed Its Supporters About Govt Avoiding Dialogue
One of the supporters of the CJP, while speaking to Organiser on the condition of anonymity, stated that they had been protesting for so many days and the government is not willing to talk to them so that this issue can be resolved. When told that their leader Saurav Das had met Union Health Minister JP Nadda on July 20, he was taken aback. On being told that the government is looking into the demands that have been put forward by Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), he was left speechless. To cover up for something that he did not know, he merely stated that the “government should immediately look into their demands and give Rs 1 crore to the families of those students who committed suicide”.
What Started As A Hunger Strike Is Now A Site For A Feast For All at Jantar Mantar
The site of the so-called CJP protest has turned into a feasting ground for all the students as lavish food packages are being delivered in thousands. From fast food like pizzas and burgers to packed juices, samosas, and biryanis are being provided to all those who are there at Jantar Mantar.
According to a top YouTube journalist who has been covering the CJP protest,

According to reports, Sonam Wangchuk, a day or so before he was moved to Safdarjung hospital, apparently angrily questioned one of the protesters that here he was sitting on a hunger strike and the rest were relishing the food. In fact, it has been reported that Sonam Wangchuk, who was sitting on a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar, urged the protesters to at least not eat in front of him.

Organiser correspondent also spotted delivery boys arriving at the CJP protest together, and they offered food plates directly to the protesters. The plates had chicken pakoras. One of the delivery boys stated that 200 plates of chicken pakoras were sent by a senior YouTube journalist who used to regularly come to cover the CJP protest. What needs to be found out is who this senior YouTube journalist could be who ensured that 200 plates of chicken pakoras were sent for the protesters?
Congress Stand Raises Question; Different Leaders, Different Views
The congress leadership seems to be in a state of confusion as each of its leaders are giving different remarks pertaining to the NEET paper leak protest. While some of their leaders want the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, while there are others who want PM Narendra Modi to step down. Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi have centred their campaign on demanding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resignation over the protest crackdown, while Congress general secretary K.C. Venugopal has widened the agitation to include Sonam Wangchuk’s fast, the examination controversy and opposition to the Higher Education Bill. Meanwhile Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has also advanced a broader political attack on the Centre, leaving the party without a single, coherent demand and raising questions about its objectives.
The shifting narrative has also altered the character of the protests. What began as a student-led movement at Jantar Mantar has increasingly been transformed into a political campaign outside the Prime Minister’s residence. The repeated changes in demands, leadership and venue have fuelled criticism that the Congress is using the students’ agitation as a platform for its broader political agenda, rather than remaining focused on the issues that originally sparked the protests.
Meanwhile, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan accused Rahul Gandhi and the Congress of “shamelessly exploiting students as political tools” to manufacture disruption during the Monsoon Session of Parliament. He also criticised the party for shifting the protest to outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence, alleging that the dharna caused inconvenience to the public and disregarded established security protocols around the Prime Minister’s residence.
The CJP protest no longer seems to have deviated from the path for which it was demonstrating, and its leader Abhijeet Dipke seems to be running around to seek support from every nook and corner, as the real NEET aspirants or those who have qualified the exam are more focused on their goal. This was evident from the fact that one of the people said that he had come for the protest with the hope that things would be fixed in the near future. However, after seeing the hooliganism and vandalism that the CJP people are indulging in, he has disassociated himself from the protest. Moreover, speaking on the condition of anonymity, some of the ex-CJP supporters have said that most of the time Abhijeet is resting in five-star hotels and is not able to lead the protest. This is just one incident; another one is that of Vijay Dahiya, who was spokesperson of the CJP and was caught eating a burger at a food joint in Connaught Place.
The last three to four days have been difficult for the common man as the metro stations are closed, destruction of public property is unacceptable, and playing the victim card when the police is trying to maintain law and order after due warnings. High time that the ‘cockroaches’ do some introspection, and the government should step up to take action against the miscreants, as in the name of protest no one has the right to spread anarchy simply because they have become pawns in the hands of some forces who are working day in and day out to stop the growth of Bharat.
