Quetta: The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has released details of 48 attacks that were carried out across Balochistan between July 1 and July 14, claiming that more than 40 Pakistani army personnel were killed and several others wounded. In a detailed statement issued to the media, BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch said the group’s fighters carried out attacks on Pakistani military convoys, supply vehicles, foot patrols, camps, police posts, bridges and vehicles transporting minerals and other resources.

The group said the attacks took place in several areas, including Mastung, Noshki, Panjgur, Kech, Ziarat, Harnai, Kharan, Washuk, Buleda, Surab, Khuzdar, Kalat, Wadh and Dalbandin. The BLA said the attacks were part of its wider campaign and what it described as an “economic blockade” on major highways in Balochistan. It said vehicles violating the blockade were targeted and destroyed, while four key bridges were blown up with explosives, according to a report of The Balochistan Post.

According to the statement, the attacks began on July 1, when BLA fighters targeted a Pakistani military supply vehicle in the Dasht area of Mastung, killing two personnel and preventing supplies from reaching military posts. The group said cargo vehicles were also targeted the same day in Kuchaki, Noshki, and on the Chedgi route in Panjgur.v Two days later, on July 3, the BLA said it targeted a military vehicle in the Zarin Jungle area of Noshki with an improvised explosive device, killing at least two personnel. It also said another military vehicle was targeted on Sibi Road in Dasht, Mastung, where a bridge was damaged.

The group said its fighters established roadblocks on the Shahrag-Harnai and Shahrag-Ziarat highways and maintained control of the routes for two days. It said two bridges were also destroyed on the Noshki-Kharan road in the Reko area of Noshki. The BLA said its fighters took control of the Quetta-Taftan route in Dalbandin, where large vehicles were set on fire. It said clashes later broke out between BLA fighters and Pakistani forces in the area.

The statement said attacks continued in Kech on July 4, including in Balnegor Machat and Mirzazo in Tump, where Pakistani military personnel and vehicles were targeted with explosives and gunfire. The BLA claimed two soldiers were killed and several others wounded in those attacks.

On July 5, the group said its fighters took control of a police station in Ahmed Wal, Noshki, set it on fire and released three detained police personnel after issuing a warning. It also claimed grenade attacks on a Pakistani military camp in Saami, Kech. The following day, the BLA said its fighters set fire to a vehicle transporting minerals after establishing a roadblock in the Bencha area of Surab. It also claimed an IED attack on a Pakistani military vehicle in Sonaro, Khuzdar.

The BLA described fighting near Harnai and Ziarat on July 7 as one of the major engagements of the period. It said Pakistani forces were targeted in the Khalifat area as hundreds of personnel attempted to advance. The group said three Pakistani army personnel were killed in the initial attack, while more than seven others were killed in later ambushes at three locations, forcing the troops to retreat.

The BLA said three of its fighters, identified as Raheemullah alias Zafar, Khair Mohammad alias Hammal and Kaka alias Rasheed, were killed during the clashes. The group also claimed attacks in Kharan, Noshki and Chamalang the same day. It said Pakistani foot soldiers were targeted near Killi Karim Bakhsh in Kharan, while another operation in Ahmed Wal, Noshki, caused personnel and material losses.

The statement said Gul Baig Dadyani, an employee of a security company linked to mineral extraction vehicles, was killed in a remote-controlled blast at Dedh Mor in Chamalang. The BLA accused him of working as an informer for Pakistani forces and assisting in the recruitment of local youth into the military.

On July 8, the BLA said its fighters targeted Pakistani forces at two locations in the Mehlabi area of Kalat, killing two personnel and wounding several others. The group said one of its major attacks took place on July 9 in the Sachi area of Washuk, where its fighters targeted a four-vehicle military convoy transporting Lieutenant Colonel Nasir of the Pakistani army’s 128 Wing from Washuk to Kharan.

“In this operation, two vehicles of the occupying army came under direct fire, with one vehicle being completely destroyed in a rocket attack,” the statement said. “Four personnel were killed and more than six were injured in the attack, including three who are in critical condition.”

The BLA said its fighters also seized a vehicle carrying supplies to Pakistani forces on the Chedgi route in Panjgur the same day. On July 10, the BLA said its fighters ambushed Pakistani military vehicles in Menaz, Buleda, killing two personnel. It also claimed responsibility for destroying a bridge on the Quetta-Taftan highway in the Butto area of Noshki and firing grenade rounds at a Pakistani military camp in Seraduk, Panjgur.

The BLA said its fighters seized a police checkpoint in Kuchaki, Noshki, on July 11, detained three personnel and destroyed the post with explosives. The statement said the checkpoint was targeted because it was allegedly involved in illegal extortion from passing vehicles. The detained police personnel were later released after what the group described as a warning.

On July 12, the group said its fighters ambushed two Pakistani military vehicles in Naghar, Surab, killing three personnel and wounding at least seven others. It also claimed attacks in Gurgina, Mastung, and at the Ahmed Wal railway crossing and Gomazgi area of Noshki.

The BLA said further attacks took place on July 13 in Kharan, Surab, Wadh, Dalbandin and Panjgur. It claimed three personnel were killed in an attack on military convoys in the Zomi area of Kharan, while two others were killed in Naghar, Surab. The group said one of its snipers killed a soldier deployed at a Pakistani military camp in Sonaro, Wadh. It also said a vehicle transporting material for a military project was set on fire in Dalbandin.

In Panjgur, the BLA said intense clashes broke out on the Chedgi route, killing four Pakistani army personnel and wounding several others. It said two BLA fighters, identified as Masood alias Sami and Shah Nazar alias Badal, were killed in the clashes. The statement said the final attacks of the period took place on July 14, when BLA fighters took control of the Kharan-Quetta road and conducted snap checking for several hours.

The group said its fighters destroyed an empty Pakistani military outpost near the highway and planted explosives to destroy a bridge on the Quetta-Karachi highway near Tauk in Kalat. The BLA paid tribute to five fighters it said were killed during the period. “Every single drop of blood shed by these freedom fighters will keep the flame of the Baloch national liberation movement alight and serve as a symbol of honour and resilience for future generations,” the statement said.

Jeeyand Baloch said that the group would continue its operations until what it described as the withdrawal of Pakistani forces from Balochistan and the achievement of independence.
