NEW DELHI: The Department of Economics, Shaheed Bhagat Singh College (University of Delhi), in association with BRICS Trade Union Forum Bhartiya Majdoor Sangh, successfully organised a National conference on the theme “Human-centric Technology and Artificial Intelligence: Implications for the Future of Work” at the Academic Auditorium on July 1, 2026. The conference witnessed enthusiastic participation of eminent policymakers, academicians, industry experts, and labour representatives to deliberate on the transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the labor industry and measures to make it more labor friendly.
The programme commenced with Registration at 2 PM, followed by the Inaugural Session from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM. The inaugural session featured a virtual welcome address by Prof. Arun Kumar Attree, Principal, Shaheed Bhagat Singh College. Guests were felicitated by the organising team, after which Anish Mishra, Task force chair-BRICS Trade Union, presented an overview of BRICS and the BRICS Task Force. Surenderan, Organising Secretary, BMS, highlighted the global presence and contributions of BMS in the past, while Priyanka Sharma set the tone for the conference by emphasising the important issues that the labor industry is facing with the introduction of AI and measures to tackle it.
The conference was further enriched by the address of the Chief Guest, Ashish Sood, Hon’ble Minister for Home, Power and Education, Government of Delhi. His insightful remarks underscored the need for ethical, inclusive, and sustainable adoption of artificial intelligence while ensuring that technological advancement remains centred on human welfare. His address was followed by the Prof.
Sanjay Bhardwaj, who shared the technical aspect of AI and labor industry from the lense of an academician.
The highlight of the event was an engaging panel discussion moderated by Shri Bipindra Ji, featuring distinguished speakers including Dr Mukesh Jain, Sarthak Shukla, Pawan Kumar, and Naman Jain. The panel explored diverse dimensions of artificial intelligence, technological innovation, workforce transformation, skill development, ethical governance, and the challenges and opportunities arising from AI-driven economies. An interactive question-and-answer session encouraged active participation from the audience, resulting in meaningful exchanges of ideas between experts and attendees.
The conference concluded with a comprehensive wrap-up by Hiranmay Pandya, followed by felicitation of panelists by the organising team. Dr Deependra Chahar expressed gratitude to the distinguished guests, speakers, organisers, participants, and volunteers for their valuable contributions. The programme ended with the National Anthem, followed by a high-tea networking session that provided participants with an opportunity to exchange ideas and foster future collaborations.
