Kota: A man identified as Moin Khan has been arrested in Rajasthan’s Kota following allegations that he was part of an online network accused of targeting Hindu women for religious conversion and creating explicit content. The arrest came after a complaint was filed by members of the Hindu rights group Bajrang Dal, prompting an investigation by the police.
According to Udyog Nagar Police Station Circle Inspector Mangelal, the complaint was lodged on June 15, 2026. Based on the allegations, police registered a case under Sections 196(1)(A), 196(1)(B), 299 and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 66, 67 and 67A of the Information Technology Act.
Bajrang Dal has alleged that investigators recovered more than 40,000 obscene videos from the accused’s devices. The organisation claims that several Telegram, WhatsApp, Snapchat and Discord groups, including one allegedly named “Sanataniyon ki Nilami,” were being used to target Hindu women through what it described as “love jihad” and “rape jihad.” These allegations are currently under police investigation.
Bajrang Dal activist Yogesh Renwal alleged that Moin Khan was born as Manish Sharma, converted to Islam, and had been involved in suspicious online activities for several months. According to Renwal, the accused had studied up to Class 10, worked at a local shop, married in 2021, and has a four-year-old child. He said the organisation received complaints about the accused through its helpline before approaching the police.
Renwal further alleged that multiple social media groups operating on platforms such as Telegram, Snapchat and Discord were attempting to lure Hindu girls and women into relationships with the objective of religious conversion. He claimed these groups promoted an agenda referred to as “Jihad al Akbar,” under which Hindu women were allegedly targeted through romantic relationships, blackmail and coercion.
According to the complaint, the accused was allegedly in contact with individuals and organisations based in Pakistan through various online platforms. Bajrang Dal has claimed that the accused had established links with Pakistani handlers who were directing activities aimed at targeting Hindu women.
The complaint also alleges that investigators recovered audio recordings from the accused’s mobile phone discussing the creation of explicit videos involving Hindu women while displaying religious symbols such as sindoor and mangalsutra. The complainants further alleged that the objective was to insult Hindu religious sentiments and circulate such material online.
Police are also examining allegations that the accused lured women and minor girls, coerced them into religious conversion, and created or collected pornographic material intended for distribution. According to the complaint, one of the recovered audio recordings allegedly features an individual based in Pakistan discussing these activities.
Authorities are currently investigating whether and when Manish Sharma allegedly converted to Islam and are also probing the alleged Pakistan connection.
