The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) expresses deep grief over the tragic fire incident at a coaching centre in Aliganj, Lucknow, which has claimed the lives of more than 14 students and left many others injured. This incident is heartbreaking, deeply unfortunate, and extremely concerning. The untimely loss of students who came in pursuit of education highlights a grave failure in safety arrangements, administrative oversight, and the regulatory mechanism. Prima facie, this incident appears to be the result of gross disregard for fire safety standards, lack of regular inspections, and serious negligence on the part of the concerned institute management and administrative authorities.
Students are the nation’s future, and ensuring their safety is a collective responsibility. Under no circumstances can negligence regarding safety standards in coaching institutes, hostels, and other educational campuses be accepted. The actual status of fire safety measures, emergency exits, building compliance, and disaster management systems in thousands of coaching institutes operating across Uttar Pradesh and the country remains a matter of grave concern.
ABVP demands that the Uttar Pradesh government and administration conduct a high-level, impartial, and time-bound investigation into the incident. Strict legal action must be ensured against any individual, organisation, or official whose direct or indirect negligence is found responsible for this tragedy. Furthermore, a special fire safety audit of all coaching institutes, hostels, and educational campuses across the state must be conducted immediately, and stringent action should be taken against those violating prescribed safety standards.
Following this tragic incident, ABVP karyakartas are actively working to assist affected students and their families. For any emergency assistance, information, coordination, or necessary support, students and parents may contact the ABVP helpline numbers: 9455172336, 9616418823, 8887583224, 8577046002, and 9454595537. ABVP karyakartas will remain available to provide all possible support in relief and assistance operations.
Abhay Pratap Singh, National Secretary, ABVP, stated, “This tragic incident in Aliganj has deeply shaken the entire student community. ABVP pays its humble tribute to all the students who lost their lives in this accident and expresses its deepest condolences to the bereaved families. We also pray for the speedy recovery of those injured. Compromising student safety is completely unacceptable. If this tragedy occurred due to disregard for fire safety norms or administrative negligence, the strictest legal action must be taken against every responsible individual, organisation, and official. To prevent such incidents in the future, comprehensive safety inspections and regular monitoring mechanisms for all coaching institutes and educational campuses across the state must be made mandatory.”
Arpan Kushwaha, State Secretary, Awadh, ABVP, stated, “This tragic incident in Lucknow is not merely an accident; it appears to be the consequence of neglecting safety standards and the failure of the responsible system. It is extremely alarming that students are not safe even within institutions meant for education. No individual or institution found responsible for this tragedy should be shielded from accountability under any circumstances. ABVP demands an immediate and comprehensive audit of the safety arrangements of coaching institutes, hostels, and other educational campuses operating across the state, along with strict action against those violating safety norms. Those who play with the lives of students must not be spared at any cost.”
