Khammam, June 12: Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) Telangana leader Rama Raju strongly condemned the alleged sexual assault on a 12-year-old girl in Khammam and demanded stringent punishment for the accused.

On Friday, VHP leaders Rama Raju, Subhash Chander, and Rajender Reddy visited the victim, who is undergoing treatment at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) Hospital in Hyderabad, and enquired about her condition.

Speaking to the media, the leaders described the incident—where a 50-year-old man, identified as Mohammed Ghouse Pasha, allegedly assaulted the minor and pushed her from a building—as a heinous crime and a disgrace to humanity. They demanded the harshest possible legal punishment for the accused.

They also alleged that the accused tried to destroy evidence and escape from the law. According to them, he was arrested only after the victim regained consciousness and narrated the horrific incident to her parents. They claimed that this indicates a pre-planned motive against the minor girl, who is young enough to be his granddaughter.

The VHP leaders also urged the government to provide immediate financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to the victim’s family, create a fixed deposit of Rs1 crore in the girl’s name, and offer a government job to one eligible family member.

They criticized the state government, alleging inadequate response to the incident, and expressed concern that many political leaders had remained silent despite the seriousness of the crime involving a minor girl.

The organization called for swift justice and comprehensive support for the victim and her family.

Case Background:

The case came to light in Khammam district after a 12-year-old girl, who had initially been believed to have suffered an accidental fall from an apartment building, regained consciousness and revealed a disturbing sequence of events to her family. According to police, the incident occurred on June 6, 2026, at an apartment complex in Raparthi Nagar, Khammam.

Based on the victim’s statement, police alleged that the accused, identified as MD Gous, a resident of the same apartment complex, attempted to sexually assault the minor. When the girl resisted and raised an alarm, he allegedly pushed her from the upper floor of the building before fleeing the spot. The victim sustained severe injuries, including fractures to her spine and ribs, and was admitted to hospital for treatment.

Following the complaint lodged by the victim’s family, Khammam police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and attempt-to-murder charges.
