June 10, 2026, has been etched as a historic day in the annals of Indian democracy. By leading the nation for 4,399 consecutive days, Prime Minister Narendra Modi surpassed the record held by India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, becoming the longest-serving elected Prime Minister of independent India. Many influential world leaders, including those from the US and Italy, have congratulated him on this achievement. India’s rising global stature, its strengthening economy and the renewed vigor in international relations are being hailed as major accomplishments of PM Modi’s leadership.

It is noteworthy that retaining power at the Centre by securing a full mandate for three consecutive terms is, in itself, a significant feat in Indian politics. Under Modi’s leadership, the country has witnessed transformative changes across economic, diplomatic and technological sectors.

US Senator John Cornyn Hails ‘Transformative Leadership’

US Senator John Cornyn, an influential Republican lawmaker and co-chair of the Senate India Caucus, issued a special congratulatory message on this milestone. Writing on the social media platform X, he stated, “Congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister. He has led for 4,399 days, backed by the trust of 1.4 billion people across three democratic mandates.” Cornyn added, “From lifting 250 million people out of poverty to making India the world’s fastest-growing major economy, Prime Minister Modi’s tenure has been transformative.” “The US-India partnership has never been stronger.”

US Ambassador calls it a testament to public service and leadership

US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor also congratulated Prime Minister Modi, describing this milestone as the result of decades of dedicated public service. In his message, he stated that the achievement of becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister is a testament to Modi’s strong leadership, commitment to public service and sustained efforts toward the nation’s development. He also wished the Prime Minister a bright future and continued success.

Mary Millben calls it a historic moment for democracy

American singer and India supporter Mary Millben also hailed the occasion as a historic achievement for Indian democracy. She remarked that Prime Minister Modi is not merely a political leader but a key architect of the strengthening ties between India and the United States.

She noted that despite working with multiple US Presidents and navigating changing global dynamics, Modi has consistently demonstrated balanced and respectful diplomacy. Millben added that in every situation, Prime Minister Modi has prioritized the interests of the Indian people and played a pivotal role in elevating the relationship between the two nations to new heights.

According to her, the cooperation between India and Italy is not limited to the present; it will also generate new possibilities in economic, technological and strategic sectors in the years to come.

India’s Global Identity Transformed in the Modi Era

India’s global standing has witnessed a remarkable transformation over the past decade. The country has carved out a new identity across various domains, including its G20 presidency, an expanding role on international platforms, the digital revolution, infrastructure expansion and economic growth rates. Under the Modi government, India has solidified its position as a global power. Consequently, leaders from nations across the world view this achievement not merely as a political record, but as a reflection of India’s rising global stature.

Public Trust is the Greatest Asset: Modi

Reacting to this historic achievement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked that public service is the hallmark of good governance.
