According to reports, at least 93 mobile phones were reported stolen during the demonstration held at Jantar Mantar on Saturday. The complaints emerged after participants began discovering that their devices had gone missing amid the large gathering.
The scale of the reported thefts has triggered concern among attendees and prompted authorities to examine complaints submitted by those affected.
As reports of missing phones surfaced, social media platforms were flooded with posts from participants claiming that their devices had disappeared during the course of the rally.
The demonstration was organised by the Cockroach Janata Party, a group that has been campaigning on allegations of irregularities in examinations and recruitment processes.
During the gathering, organisers demanded accountability from the Union Education Ministry and called for action regarding issues related to examinations such as NEET, CUET, CBSE examinations and SSC recruitment tests. The protest also included demands for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
However, discussions surrounding the protest quickly shifted after reports of large-scale thefts began emerging from the venue.
Authorities have reportedly begun examining the complaints filed by those who reported their mobile phones missing.
