‘Have You Seen Bakra Halal?’: 17-Year-Old Surya Chauhan Stabbed to Death in Ghaziabad, Prime Accused Asad Killed in Encounter

A shocking murder case in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad district has sparked widespread outrage after a 17-year-old Class 11 student was allegedly stabbed multiple times during a confrontation in Khoda Colony. The victim, identified as Surya Pratap Chauhan, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment, triggering demands for swift justice from his family and local residents.

The case took a dramatic turn on May 31, when the main accused, Asad, who had been absconding since the incident, was killed during a police encounter in the Khoda area. Authorities said Asad allegedly opened fire on a police team attempting to apprehend him, prompting retaliatory action in self-defence.

The incident has drawn significant attention in the region, with the victim’s family insisting that all individuals involved in the attack be brought to justice.

Student succumbs to stab injuries

Surya Pratap Chauhan, a resident of Navneet Vihar Colony in Khoda, was a Class 11 student. According to police officials and family members, he was attacked on May 28 near Sharma Dairy in Khoda Colony following a confrontation involving a group of youths.

After sustaining serious injuries, Surya was rushed to a nearby hospital and later referred to a private medical facility in Noida due to the severity of his condition. Despite efforts by doctors, he succumbed to his injuries on Friday.

His death left family members devastated and triggered anger among local residents, who demanded immediate arrests and strict punishment for those responsible.

Police encounter ends in death of main accused

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (City) Dhawal Jaiswal, police teams had been searching for the prime accused, Asad, since the stabbing incident.

Officials said specific intelligence inputs regarding his whereabouts were received early Sunday morning. Acting on the information, a police team moved to intercept him in the Khoda area.

Police stated that when officers attempted to stop him, Asad allegedly opened fire on the team. In response, police personnel returned fire in self-defence.

During the exchange of gunfire, Asad sustained bullet injuries. He was immediately shifted to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Authorities noted that a reward of Rs 50,000 had been announced for information leading to his arrest, as he had remained absconding after the murder case was registered.

Family demands action against remaining accused

Following news of the encounter, members of Surya’s family welcomed the action against the main accused but maintained that justice would remain incomplete unless all individuals allegedly involved in the attack were punished.

The victim’s mother expressed both grief and determination while speaking to media persons. She said she wanted confirmation that the person killed in the encounter was indeed Asad.

She also alleged that multiple individuals had participated in the assault on her son and demanded stringent action against all of them.

According to the family, Surya was not attacked by a lone individual and several people were allegedly present during the incident. The family has repeatedly called for arrests and prosecution of every accused named in the case.

Brother details sequence of events

A complaint lodged by Surya’s elder brother, Yash, formed the basis of the police investigation.

According to Yash, Surya was with his friends Ayush and Vicky when the confrontation occurred. He alleged that Asad encountered the group in a lane and began arguing with Surya.

The complaint states that the verbal altercation soon escalated, with Asad allegedly abusing Surya before attacking him with a knife.

Yash alleged that the accused stabbed Surya four times in the abdomen with the intention of killing him.

Upon receiving information about the attack, family members rushed to the spot and immediately transported the injured teenager to a hospital. However, the injuries proved fatal and he died during treatment.

Friend’s statement mentions a conversation linked to Bakrid

As investigators pieced together the events leading up to the attack, statements from witnesses offered another perspective on the confrontation.

Surya’s friend Vicky told police that earlier on the day of the incident, he, Surya and another friend had gone to the locality where the accused lived after being invited by a neighbourhood youth.

According to Vicky’s statement, a conversation began between Surya and Asad before tensions escalated.

Vicky claimed that during the exchange, Asad allegedly asked Surya whether he had ever seen a goat being slaughtered. When Surya reportedly answered in the negative, Asad allegedly told him to come and watch.

The witness further alleged that when Surya attempted to leave, he was verbally abused and subsequently attacked, resulting in the fatal stabbing.

Police are examining witness statements and other evidence as part of the ongoing investigation.

Motorcycle dispute also under investigation

While witness accounts have highlighted one possible trigger for the confrontation, police have also pointed to another angle emerging from the preliminary investigation.

According to reports, investigators believe the victim and the accused were known to each other before the incident.

Initial findings suggest that a dispute related to riding a motorcycle may have contributed to tensions between the parties and eventually escalated into violence.

Officials have indicated that multiple aspects of the case are being examined to establish the precise sequence of events and the motive behind the attack.

Multiple accused named in FIR

Based on the complaint filed by Surya’s family, police registered a criminal case against five individuals.

Authorities moved swiftly after the incident, arresting three accused persons on Saturday. However, Asad remained absconding until the police operation that culminated in the encounter on Sunday.

Police officials have stated that efforts are continuing to identify the role of each accused and ensure that all those involved face legal consequences.

Investigation continues

With the death of the prime accused and the arrest of several others, investigators are now focused on completing the probe, collecting forensic evidence, verifying witness statements and preparing the case for prosecution.

The murder of a teenage student has generated significant public concern in Ghaziabad, with many residents demanding stronger measures to prevent violent crimes involving young people.

As the investigation progresses, authorities have assured the victim’s family that all aspects of the case will be thoroughly examined and that action will be taken against anyone found responsible for the fatal attack on Surya Pratap Chauhan.
