New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has chargesheeted three operatives of the banned CPI (Maoist) terror outfit in a case related to the supply of explosives and logistical support to Maoist cadres in Andhra Pradesh, officials said on May 29.

According to a press release by NIA, all three have been charged under various sections of the IPC, the Explosive Substances Act, and UA (P) Act in the first chargesheet in the case RC-12/2024/NIA/DLI, filed before the NIA special court in Visakhapatnam.

The chargesheet was filed before the NIA Special Court in Visakhapatnam in case RC-12/2024/NIA/DLI under various sections of the IPC, Explosive Substances Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act [UA(P)A]. The accused have been identified as Naka Devid Raj alias Daveedu, Vijay Viswas and Sodi Kesa.

According to the agency, Naka Devid Raj and Vijay Viswas have been identified as overground workers (OGWs) of CPI (Maoist). They were caught red-handed and arrested by the local police en route to hand over the consignment of explosives to the third accused, Sodi Kesa – an underground CPI (Maoist) cadre. The release said that the NIA investigations revealed that the accused Devid and Vijay were engaged in procurement, transportation and supply of explosive materials to underground Maoist cadres for use in attacks on security forces.

The counter-terrorism agency further found that the accused had established links with, and were actively and knowingly assisting, CPI (Maoist) members to promote the outfit’s nefarious agenda.

Investigations by NIA, which had taken over the case from the local police in September 2024, further revealed that the entire conspiracy was aimed at helping CPI (Maoist) strengthen its operational capabilities in the region to disrupt the country’s security and stability. Investigations to identify other linkages of the banned outfit are continuing, the release added.
