Tamil Nadu: Joseph Vijay Government Draws Flak Over Education, Corruption and Governance Issues

The Joseph Vijay-led TVK government is facing mounting criticism over its opposition to the three-language formula, alleged double standards on education policy, silence on key Tamil cultural issues, and accusations of following the same political model as the DMK.

CM Joseph Vijay-led TVK government appears to be a new version of the DMK or AIADMK, if the following are any indication.

In Tamil Nadu, actor C. Joseph Vijay’s TVK has proved that his party is following in the footsteps of the DMK and its rule as an extension of Dravidian-centric politics. Vijay’s new government is publicly saying a firm no to the National Education Policy’s three-language formula. His government made it clear that Tamil Nadu will strictly follow the traditional two-language policy of Tamil and English in all schools. In contrast, Vijay’s own CBSE institution, Vijay Vidyashram, offers Hindi and follows a three-language pattern, raising sharp questions of double standards.

💡The problem is not for DMK or TVK. The loss is for the students of Tamil Nadu. Even Kerala has agreed to PM Shri.

What is "Vijay Vidhyashram" School's policy given its affiliation with the CBSE? Can someone ask Rajmohan or CM Joseph Vijay? https://t.co/2mzZhXc4Tt pic.twitter.com/ejjjcA3u8A

While the party attacks the three-language formula in public, a CBSE school associated with Vijay’s family continues to function with Hindi and additional language options. As BJP leader Annamalai and others said, “this creates a system where multilingual education remains available for students in elite private schools, while government school students are denied the same opportunities in the name of policy – just like the DMK”.

DMK chief MK Stalin claimed that the DMK will continue to rule as long as its welfare schemes remain in force. They used social media, especially Instagram, and made children part of the campaign.

One of the netizens says, “TVK promised to be an alternative to DMK. But, CM @TVKVijayHQ is following the same old DMK playbook. DMK leader MK Stalin follows New Education Policy (NEP 2020) in his own private school, but opposes the same system in government schools. Improving government school education at par with private schools will have a serious impact on the private school business ecosystem. Under DMK’s rule, new enrolments for government schools were decreasing as more and more parents were choosing private schools. Now CM Vijay, who also owns Vijay Vidhyashram, a CBSE school, is doing the very same thing — NEP for his private school, rejection for government schools. How can the same New Education Policy (NEP) be good for his private business but bad for government schools? The private school business is worth multi-₹1,000 crores in Tamil Nadu, and their lobby is so powerful that it can influence government policymaking”.

On the issue of NEET, it follows the same stand as the DMK. State Higher Education Minister P. Viswanathan, a Congress MLA, says, “Tamil Nadu does not need the NEET exam.”

The TVK government did not react to the Central government’s move to make Tamil compulsory in UPSC examinations, unlike the DMK, AIADMK, VCK, Left parties, and NTK, who claim to champion Tamil and brand Modi as anti-Tamil and against the interests of the state.

CM Joseph Vijay is yet to comment on the recent retrieval of the Chola-era Anaimangalam copper plates from the Netherlands.

Indu Makkal Katchi, in a post, said, “Why did CM Joseph Vijay not speak about the Anaimangalam copper plates…? Because it destroys the church propaganda. Lord Ram is mentioned, Surya Bhagwan is mentioned, and the Dharmic nature of TN is explicitly written on them. Unfortunately, there is no news of St. Thomas in there”.

Why CM Joseph Vijay did not speak about Anaimangalam copper plates…?

Cause it destroys the church propaganda, Lord Ram is mentioned, Surya bhagawan is mentioned, Dharmic nature of TN is explicitly written on them.

Unfortunately there is no news of St.Thomas in there.

BJP leader Vanathi Srinivasan faulted Vijay for not bringing back the copper plates.

Following in the footsteps of DMK leaders MK Stalin and Udhayanidhi Stalin, who conduct photo shoots to impress the public about their outreach and avowed sincere concern for the oppressed, TVK ministers too are vying with each other to outsmart their erstwhile counterparts. What they fail to understand is that people know it is a photo shoot. The food they share is procured from star hotels, and new plates and tumblers are arranged for leaders. During a recent visit by minister Adhav Arjuna, while other children were taking idly and sambar, he was given a separate plate and started eating bun, butter, and jam like a European breakfast. The following video is self-explanatory.

On the LTTE issue, Vijay proved he is also on the same side as ‘Breaking India’ forces by praising the banned outfit’s leader.

Tamil Nadu’s new Chief Minister has paid homage to LTTE chief Velupillai Prabhakaran, whose outfit assassinated former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

Before the elections, TVK promised to punish corrupt DMK leaders, whom he described as evil forces, but in reality it appears different. It too tries to protect corrupt ministers like V. Senthil Balaji, Anitha Radhakrishnan, K.N. Nehru, and others.

Scoop: Enforcement Directorate writes to TN government under CM Vijay, seeks sanction to prosecute ex-DMK minister Senthil Balaji in cash-for-jobs scam.
ED also alleges outgoing DMK govt "deliberately delayed" sanctioning this, as Senthil Balaji was part of the govt.

The ED sent reminders on the second day after the TVK government assumed power in Tamil Nadu. One of the netizens says, “It has been over 24 hours since the ED asked Joseph Vijay for approval to prosecute Senthil Balaji, but the approval hasn’t come yet. Balaji was the number one target of Vijay during the campaign. Not only has Vijay tied up with the same DMK party to grab power, but now he also seems to be shielding that party’s corruption. TVK is not just DMK 2.0 but also Kejriwal 2.0!!”.

Another startling issue that stirred serious condemnation from the public and political parties was the allotment of a tender within hours of its announcement. A post on X said, “TVK government is getting into action at lightning speed. New minister @BussyAnand took charge of the Rural Development Ministry yesterday, and within 24 hours they opened a new tender at 9:00 AM today with a deadline of 3:00 PM, giving only six hours to respond. How is it possible?”

Later, it was revoked, which is another matter. But an attempt to allot tenders to someone, and a serious flaw in that process, was confirmed.

TVK minister CTR Nirmal Kumar warned that the former CM would go to jail while speaking to the media. “Whether it will happen is a million-dollar question,” says the public.

During the DMK period, they bought an 8 lakh, 800 kW transformer for 13 lakh, causing a huge loss, claims newly appointed TVK EB minister @CTR_Nirmalkumar.

There are instances of TVK men allegedly collecting mamool or extortion money from traders. Surprise visits to hospitals and government offices, and threats to police officers, are pouring onto social media along with videos.

"மாசம் 1 லட்சம் யாரு கேட்டது..? அவனை கூப்புடு நான் பேசுறேன்.."

தலைமைல சொன்னதுனால தான் பணம் வாங்குறோம், அப்படி பணம் தரலான உன்னால தொழில் நடத்த முடியாதுனு சொல்லி மிரட்டுறாங்க..

— Polimer News (@polimernews) May 22, 2026

Now the question before all of us is: “Are these the changes that TVK promised before the polls? Is this what voters got in return after voting for him, hoping he would become the face of change and an alternative to the DMK and AIADMK?”
