The Madhya Pradesh government, on May 21, stated before the Kerala High Court that both Farman Khan and the Kumbh Mela famed girl may move a Madhya Pradesh court for bail. Farman Khan is involved in a POCSO case in connection with allegedly bringing the ‘minor’ girl to Kerala and marrying her on March 11, 2026. The Madhya Pradesh girl shot to fame by selling Rudraksha and pearl garlands during the Prayagraj Mahakumbh Mela in 2025.

S.V. Raju, Additional Solicitor General for the Union Government, appeared on behalf of the Madhya Pradesh government.

The counsel stated that cases, including the POCSO case, have been registered in Madhya Pradesh. Therefore, both Farman Khan and the Kumbh Mela girl should move the Madhya Pradesh High Court, not the Kerala High Court.

S.V. Raju questioned why Farman Khan and the Kumbh Mela girl had not approached the Madhya Pradesh High Court and instead moved the Kerala High Court.

Both Farman Khan and the and minor girl have lodged complaints before a Madhya Pradesh court. Therefore, they could have moved bail applications before a Madhya Pradesh court.

The High Court then proposed to issue the FIR. The Supreme Court’s directive is to move the bail application. The Supreme Court has further stated that applications may be moved before any other court if there are justifiable reasons. The court deferred its decision on the anticipatory bail plea until May 29.

S.V. Raju and Special Public Prosecutor Adv. V. Sajid Kumar are appearing for the Madhya Pradesh government before the Kerala High Court.

CPM top leaders, including state secretary M.V. Govindan, A.A. Rahim MP and Education Minister V. Sivankutty, extended wholehearted support for the wedding and witnessed the entire ritual while gracing the bride and bridegroom. Not only that, the CPM leaders repeatedly told media persons that “this is Kerala, and Kerala alone can host such a wedding”.
