Bengaluru: Karnataka BJP president B. Y. Vijayendra launched a fierce attack on the Congress government over its proposed “Sadhana Samavesha” in Tumakuru, alleging that the event was nothing but a “funeral ceremony of a dead government.” He accused the ruling administration of misusing taxpayer money and government machinery to organise a politically motivated convention aimed at hiding its failures.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP office in Malleswaram, Vijayendra said the Congress government had no real achievements to showcase before the people, even after completing three years in office. “This is not a celebration of achievements. It is the last rites ceremony of a government that has completely failed in governance,” he remarked sarcastically.

The BJP leader alleged that lakhs of rupees from the public exchequer were being spent unnecessarily for the Tumakuru convention. He further claimed that people were being forcibly brought to the event in buses using administrative pressure. According to him, the government was depending on advertisements and publicity campaigns to create an illusion of success while the ground reality remained disappointing.
Criticising Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the Congress leadership, Vijayendra questioned what exactly the government had achieved during the last three years. “What development work have you done? What new schemes have you introduced apart from guarantees? Which sector has seen improvement under your administration?” he asked.

He alleged that the Congress government had completely ignored infrastructure development, irrigation projects, hospitals and schools. The BJP leader said the administration had failed to support farmers during droughts and floods and had not provided timely compensation or relief to those facing agricultural distress.
“Farmers are suffering, unemployed youth are frustrated and industries are leaving Karnataka. But instead of addressing these problems, the government is busy organising political celebrations,” he charged. He also accused the government of surviving only on “guarantee politics” and using welfare schemes merely as an election strategy.

Vijayendra claimed the Congress leadership was trying to portray guarantees as development while ignoring long-term economic growth and investment. He alleged that several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed by the government existed only on paper and had failed to generate meaningful employment opportunities in the state.
The BJP state president also attacked the government over law and order issues, alleging that Karnataka was witnessing rising criminal activities and drug-related cases. He claimed the prison system had become weak and criticised the administration for failing to maintain discipline within jails.

Taking aim at the education sector, Vijayendra accused the government of creating confusion through inconsistent policies. He alleged that the state had failed to implement the National Education Policy effectively and had not carried out adequate teacher recruitment. He also claimed that nearly 6,500 libraries across Karnataka had remained shut due to government negligence.

Referring to health sector concerns, Vijayendra alleged that maternal and infant deaths had increased in several districts, including the Chief Minister’s home district. He accused the administration of neglecting healthcare infrastructure and failing to provide quality medical services.
The BJP leader further criticised the Congress government over reservation and internal reservation policies, claiming that confusion created by the administration had adversely affected SC, ST and nomadic communities. He alleged that despite Supreme Court directions, the government was “playing with the future of lakhs of youth.”

Vijayendra also revived allegations surrounding the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation scam and the alleged MUDA site controversy. He claimed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should have resigned when corruption allegations first surfaced. “They promised corruption-free governance, but scams have become the identity of this administration,” he alleged.
During the press conference, the BJP also released posters criticising the Congress government’s three-year rule. The posters accused the government of anti-people governance, emptying the state treasury and failing across departments. One poster reportedly described the occasion as the “third anniversary memorial” of the Congress government.
Responding to questions regarding the appointment of the next BJP state president, Vijayendra said the BJP was a national party that followed a structured organisational process. He stated that senior leaders Bhupender Yadav and Tarun Chugh would hold discussions in Karnataka before a final decision is taken at the national level. Vijayendra concluded by expressing confidence that people in Karnataka were becoming increasingly disillusioned with the Congress government and would give a strong response in the coming elections.
