Balochistan: The BSO Pajjar said its central senior vice chairman, Babul Malik Baloch, was taken from the Polytechnic College hostel late on April 28, Tuesday night and moved to an undisclosed location. In a statement, the organization described the incident as “highly concerning” and said the disappearance of a student leader from an educational institution was a violation of fundamental rights.
It said Babul Malik Baloch had been active in advocating for students’ educational and democratic rights, adding that his disappearance had created fear in academic spaces and could affect the educational environment. The group said that if there were any charges against him, he should be produced before a court and due legal process followed.
“If there are any allegations, they should be addressed under the Constitution and law,” the spokesperson said, according to a report in The Balochistan Post. The organization said such incidents were contributing to unrest and anxiety in Balochistan and urged state institutions to act within the framework of the constitution. It also appealed to human rights organizations, civil society, political parties and the media to take notice of the case and press for his recovery.
Two Baloch women were taken into custody during a late-night raid in the Tejaban area of Balochistan’s Kech district and moved to an undisclosed location, local sources and family members said on April 29, Wednesday. Sources said Pakistani forces entered a house in Tejaban late on Tuesday night and took Zubaida Baloch, wife of Haji Badal, along with her daughter-in-law Zarnaaz, wife of Daulat.
Family members said the two women have not been seen since and have not been produced before any court. Local residents said Zubaida and Zarnaaz are the mother and wife of Daulat, son of Haji Badal, who was killed on February 18 by what residents described as state-backed “death squads”. The reported incident comes amid a series of recent cases involving the disappearance of Baloch women in Balochistan and Karachi.
On Arpill 22, Khadija Baloch, a nursing student, was allegedly taken during a raid on the Bolan Medical College hostel in Quetta. On April 16, Haseena Baloch, a resident of Awaran, was reportedly detained during a raid in Karachi’s Naval Colony area and moved to an undisclosed location. Rights groups say six Baloch women have been subjected to enforced disappearance in April alone, while approximately 16 Baloch women, including students, have been forcibly disappeared in recent months across Balochistan and Karachi.
A man who had reportedly recently returned home after an alleged enforced disappearance was shot dead and his wife injured in an armed attack in Kech district of Balochistan. The deceased was identified as Amir Noor, a resident of Konshkalat in the Tump area of Kech. According to local reports, Amir Noor had allegedly been taken into custody by Pakistani security forces in November 2024 and remained missing for an extended period before reappearing four days ago.
Sources said he was travelling to Karachi with his wife for medical treatment when unidentified armed men stopped their passenger bus, forced the couple to disembark, and opened fire. Amir Noor was killed at the scene, while his wife sustained injuries. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, and there has been no official statement from authorities regarding the incident. Some local residents alleged that the assailants were linked to a state-backed armed group, commonly referred to in the region as a “death squad”.
