NEW DELHI: JNU witnessed a historic display of youth participation and nationalistic fervor when the RSS RK Puram Unit organised a major convention titled “Yuva Kumbh” at the convention centre. The event, which was part of the RSS Centenary Celebrations, witnessed the participation of over 500 students and approximately 100 faculty members.
The central theme of the convention was “100 Years of Service and the Role of Youth in Nation Building.” This theme aimed at inspiring the next generation to shoulder the responsibility for India’s future. The program commenced with the felicitation of young researchers from JNU who have contributed to the idea of nation-building through their published books.
The event was graced by Rohit Mehra, an officer of the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), as the Chief Guest. Other chief guests included Prof. Brajesh Kumar Pandey, who serves as the Vibhag Sanghchalak of the RK Puram Unit as well as the Rector (Pro-Vice Chancellor) of JNU, and Dr Ranjan Wadhwa, Deputy Director of Safdarjung Hospital.
Keynote speaker Ram Madhav, eminent author, thinker, and current President of the India Foundation, spoke extensively on the RSS’s 100 years of service. He stated that youth power is the most vital foundation for leading India toward its “supreme glory” and that the centenary year is a time for new resolutions. He further explained that the Sangh’s struggle is purely ideological and harbors no enmity toward any individual, religion, or organization, remaining firmly committed to social harmony.
After the end of the formal sessions, Ram Madhav ji visited JNU’s famous Ganga Dhaba. There, he spent nearly an hour engaging in an open chai pe charcha with students, discussing their studies and the challenges they face. This direct dialogue provided an opportunity for meaningful and personalized exchange beyond the dais.
