NAGPUR: In a major security development, a cache of explosives has been recovered near the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters, Dr Hedgewar Bhawan in Nagpur, triggering panic across the city and parts of Maharashtra.
According to reports, a suspicious bag was found in a small garden near Dosar Bhavan Chowk on CA Road, close to a metro station. Upon inspection, authorities recovered 15 gelatin sticks, 50 detonators, and 8 connectors from the bag.
Police, along with the bomb disposal squad and forensic teams, rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. The explosives were safely seized, and a thorough search operation was conducted. Preliminary inputs suggest that the explosives may have been kept there for over a month.
Nagpur Joint Commissioner of Police Navinchandra Reddy stated that the case is being investigated from all possible angles, and questioning of locals is underway.
The RSS headquarters is situated within a radius of 1.5 to 2 kilometers from the area where explosives have been recoverd. Security agencies have intensified vigilance in the region.
On April 4, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif claimed that their forces are prepared to strike deep inside Indian territory, including RSS camps. Asif claimed that the conflict would not remain limited to 200–250 km and that Pakistan would enter Indian territory to carry out attacks.
Across India, there are several incidents where Pakistani proxies have carried out terrorist activities on the orders of Pakistan-based terrorist groups in the last seven decades. The Pakistani establishment is marked by an anti-RSS and anti-Bharat approach in its policy actions.
The statements follows a blunt message from Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who said any “misadventure” would draw an “unprecedented and decisive” response.
Speaking in Keralam, Singh pointed to India’s response after the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people.
“I would like to tell you the operation is not over yet. If such dirty actions are repeated by Pakistan, our armed forces will give a befitting reply which they would not forget ever,” he said.
Earlier, former Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit days back made controversial remarks about targeting Indian cities in a hypothetical scenario.
“If America attacks Pakistan we have to attack India, Mumbai, New Delhi, without a second thought. We won’t leave it we’ll see what happens later,” Basit said during a discussion.
The statements come at a time when Pakistan is also facing friction on its western front. Afghan authorities have accused Pakistani forces of carrying out airstrikes in areas including Kabul, Kandahar and Paktika, with Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid alleging civilian sites were hit.
Notably, in another significant development, five persons, including two Pakistani nationals, were arrested on Tuesday (April 7, 2026) by the J&K Police, investigating cross-State modules of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
Officials said around 19 locations in J&K, Rajasthan and Haryana were searched to bust the LeT module.
Preliminary reports suggested one of the arrested Pakistanis was operating in the country for around 16 years. Three residents of Srinagar were also held for allegedly harbouring the terrorists from Pakistan.
On April 5, a joint team of UP ATS and Delhi Police arrested a suspected operative linked to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria from Kushinagar district on Saturday night.
Rizwan, 30, was picked up from Padrauna area following sustained surveillance and intelligence inputs regarding his alleged links with ISIS modules.
According to sources, Rizwan has a history of involvement in terror-related activities. He was arrested by Mumbai Police in 2016 in connection with a terrorism case and remained in jail until 2023. He was then accused of radicalising youth to leave Mumbai and join ISIS. He even played a vital role in radicalising Ayaz Sultan, who left India to join ISIS.
