How Congress weaponised state power to surrender sovereignty and demonise Hindu civilisation

The years between 2011 and 2014 are increasingly viewed as a period where the foundational security and cultural identity of India were systematically compromised. Under the Congress regime, the state machinery often appeared to prioritise geopolitical appeasement and divisive identity politics over the sovereign interests of the nation

The period between 2011 and 2014, marking the final years of the UPA-II regime, is often remembered by many as a dark era where state power was frequently leveraged to undermine Bharat’s civilisational identity and national security. During these years, the country witnessed a concerted effort to institutionalise the narrative of “Saffron Terror,” a move widely seen as an attempt to demonise the majority community while shielding radical elements. From the proposed Communal Violence Bill, which critics argued was heavily biased against Hindus, to a perceived “soft-on-terror” approach that emboldened anti-national forces, the governance of that time appeared increasingly detached from the aspirations and safety of the patriotic Indian citizenry.

On March 26, 2026, social media platform X erupted with viral evidence of Congress’s deep-seated bias, highlighting a legacy of shielding Pakistani terrorists while maliciously labelling the Hindu community as extremists. As the critical 2026 Assembly elections in Assam, Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala approach, patriotic citizens are urging Gen Z voters to reject this anti-civilizational agenda. This wake-up call serves to expose the dark reality of a party that has consistently compromised national security and insulted the majority faith for petty vote-bank politics.

This report meticulously documents 12 pivotal instances from the Congress era, detailing a systemic bias that ranged from the soft-pedalling and release of Pakistani terrorists to the malicious fabrication of the “Hindu Terror” narrative. It serves as a stark chronicle of how state machinery was allegedly leveraged to jeopardise national security while orchestrating a targeted ideological assault on Hindu civilisational identity.

Congress’s ‘Goodwill Gesture’ Released the Mastermind of the Deadly Pathankot Attack

In a shocking compromise of national safety under the guise of diplomatic “goodwill,” the UPA government on May 28, 2010, released 25 high-profile terrorists to appease Pakistan. Among those set free was Shahid Latif, a dreaded operative of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) with deep ties to Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen. Latif had been languishing in Indian jails for 11 years, and his release had previously been rejected by the patriotic Vajpayee government during the IC-814 hijacking in 1999. By handing him back via the Wagah border, the Congress-led regime paved the way for disaster, as Latif returned to Pakistan only to coordinate and handle the brutal 2016 Pathankot Airbase attack. This incident is part of a broader, alarming legacy where the I.N.D.I Alliance reportedly oversaw the release of 169 terrorists between 1989 and 2013, effectively fueling the very insurgency India fought to suppress.

Mass Censorship Under Manmohan Singh: 10,000 Critical Voices Silenced by the UPA

The final years of the UPA-II regime were marked by an iron-fisted approach to digital dissent, where the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) systematically throttled freedom of speech. Between 2012 and 2014, the Manmohan Singh administration orchestrated the blocking of approximately 10,000 Twitter accounts that dared to use satire, criticism, or parody against the Congress leadership and the failing government. Led by the PM’s media advisor, Pankaj Pachauri, this digital crackdown targeted journalists and common citizens alike. It was only after the historic mandate of May 2014 that the incoming Modi government moved to restore democratic discourse by unblocking these thousands of handles, honouring over 4,000 direct appeals from users who had been silenced for their political views by the previous regime.

The 11-Year Delay in Hanging Parliament Attack Mastermind Afzal Guru

The pursuit of justice for the 2001 Indian Parliament attack was intentionally stalled for over a decade under the UPA government’s watch. Despite the Supreme Court confirming the death sentence for terrorist Afzal Guru in 2002, his execution was delayed by an astounding 11 years as his mercy petition remained suspiciously pending in the corridors of power. While the nation demanded accountability for the assault on the temple of democracy, the Congress-led government appeared hesitant to act, eventually carrying out the hanging only on February 9, 2013, at Tihar Jail. Even after the execution of this dreaded terrorist, the UPA leadership faced criticism for its apologetic tone, with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh expressing “dissatisfaction” over the supposed delay in informing the terrorist’s family, a move seen by many as prioritising optics over national resolve.

VVIP Culture Unleashed: Sonia and Rahul Gandhi’s Misuse of Air Force Assets

An RTI disclosure in early 2013 exposed the blatant misuse of Indian Air Force (IAF) resources by the Gandhi family, who held no constitutional posts that would entitle them to such privileges. The records revealed that UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi utilised IAF aircraft and helicopters 49 times between 2005 and 2012, with 23 of those trips taken alongside the Prime Minister. Rahul Gandhi similarly exploited these high-security assets 8 times in just three years. While official rules restrict these facilities to authorised personnel, such as the Prime Minister or the Defence Minister, for official use, the Gandhi family bypassed these norms for what appeared to be political or personal travel. Adding to the burden on the taxpayer, 42 of these 49 trips resulted in no bills being generated, while massive amounts like Rs 1.17 crore for Karnataka trips and ₹8.26 lakh for Rahul’s Assam visits remained unpaid by state governments.

Congress Bows to US Pressure by Halting Vital Urea Imports from Iran

In May 2012, the UPA government demonstrated a weak foreign policy by sacrificing India’s agricultural and strategic interests to satisfy American demands. Just before a visit by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the Indian government abruptly modified its urea import tenders to explicitly exclude Iran, which at the time supplied 35% of India’s urea. The State Trading Corporation (STC) was directed by the Fertilizer Ministry to reject all Iranian bids, a move that directly aligned with US-led economic sanctions against Tehran. This decision was taken despite warnings from India’s own ambassador in Tehran, Dinkar Shrivastava, about the damage to bilateral ties. By prioritising Washington’s geopolitical pressure over the needs of Indian farmers and regional partnerships, the Congress-led regime highlighted its inability to maintain a truly independent and sovereign foreign policy.

Surrendering Sovereignty: Congress Admits to Chinese Intrusion 19km into Indian Territory

In a humiliating admission of military and diplomatic failure, the UPA government formally conceded before a Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defense that the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) had breached the Line of Actual Control (LAC) by a staggering 19 kilometers. In April 2013, nearly 30 Chinese soldiers established a camp in the Depsang Bulge area of Ladakh, deep within Indian territory. Defense Secretary Shashikant Sharma confirmed that the standoff at 16,300 feet lasted for 11 tense days, marking one of the most severe tactical setbacks in decades. While the soldiers eventually retreated after 11 days of face-to-face confrontation, the incident exposed the Congress’s fragile border management and its inability to deter blatant territorial aggression by Beijing.

Appeasement Over Action: Congress Leaders Advocated Dialogue While Pakistan Shed Indian Blood

Throughout 2013, while the Line of Control (LoC) remained volatile due to Pakistani aggression, the Congress leadership consistently prioritised a weak “dialogue-at-all-costs” policy over national dignity. Viral records from the era highlight a disturbing trend where leaders like Salman Khurshid expressed a desperate desire for the Prime Minister to visit Pakistan despite ongoing hostilities. Most infamously, Mani Shankar Aiyar advocated for continuous talks even while Indian soldiers were being targeted, famously stating that “bullets should not be answered with bullets.” This submissive posture and the silence of the Congress top brass during terrorist provocations emboldened Pakistan and left the Indian armed forces without the necessary political backing to deliver a fitting response.

Legal Sabotage: Kapil Sibal Questioned the Need for a Ram Mandir to Delay Justice

In a blatant attempt to stall the aspirations of millions of Hindus, senior Congress leader and lawyer Kapil Sibal used his position in the Supreme Court to actively oppose the timely construction of the Ram Mandir. On December 6, 2017, while representing the Sunni Waqf Board, Sibal brazenly asked the court, “What is the hurry to build the Ram Mandir?” He demanded that the hearing be postponed until after the 2019 General Elections, effectively trying to politicise a civilizational struggle that had lasted for nearly 500 years. Although the Chief Justice’s bench rejected this plea for delay, Sibal’s arguments underscored the Congress party’s deep-seated resistance toward the restoration of India’s cultural and religious heritage at Ayodhya.

Fabricating “Hindu Terror”: The Congress Conspiracy to Malign a Peaceful Civilisation

On January 16, 2013, the UPA government reached a new low in identity politics when Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde officially floated the fabricated narrative of “Hindu Terrorism.” During a Congress session in Jaipur, Shinde alleged that the RSS and BJP were running camps to train terrorists, attempting to link the majority community to blasts in Malegaon, Samjhauta Express, and Mecca Masjid. This malicious attempt to demonise Hindus and their organisations for vote-bank politics eventually collapsed in the courts of law. By 2019 and 2025, special NIA courts acquitted over 100 accused in these cases due to a complete lack of evidence, proving that the “Hindu Terror” tag was a fraudulent political tool crafted by Congress to distract from its own failures.

Insulting the Faith: Rahul Gandhi Labelled Devotion to Lord Ram as “Brokerage”

During the 2012 Uttar Pradesh election campaign, Rahul Gandhi displayed a profound lack of respect for Hindu sentiments by accusing the BJP of engaging in “Ram ki Dalali” (brokerage of Ram). Speaking in Pilibhit in December 2011, Gandhi mocked the sacred bond between the devotees and Lord Ram, reducing a deep spiritual movement to a mere commercial transaction for votes. This derogatory rhetoric reflected the Congress’s dismissive attitude toward the cultural roots of India. The electorate eventually responded to such insults by handing the Congress a series of crushing defeats, including Rahul Gandhi’s own loss in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from the family bastion of Amethi.

National Security Breach: General V.K. Singh Alleged Sensitive Leaks by the UPA and PMO

In November 2013, former Army Chief General V.K. Singh levelled grave allegations against the UPA government, claiming that the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and certain military officials were deliberately leaking sensitive defence information to settle personal and political scores. General Singh alerted Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde that confidential details regarding India’s troop deployments, weapon quantities, and strategic defence procurement plans were being compromised. Most alarmingly, reports surfaced that the UPA regime had even shared classified military data with Pakistan as early as 2010. These allegations pointed to a systemic rot within the Congress administration, in which the secrecy of national defence was sacrificed to petty internal rivalries and external appeasement.

Extreme Sycophancy: Salman Khurshid Proclaimed Sonia Gandhi the “Mother of the Nation”

In a bizarre display of dynastic worship in December 2013, Union Minister Salman Khurshid declared that Sonia Gandhi was not just Rahul Gandhi’s mother, but “the mother of the entire nation.” This attempt to elevate a political figure to the status of “Rashtra Mata” (Mother of the Nation) was seen as a desperate move to bolster the Gandhi family’s image ahead of the 2014 elections. In a land defined by its ancient rishis and saints, such sycophancy insulted the intelligence of the Indian citizenry. Despite widespread public ridicule and criticism from patriotic organisations, Khurshid remained defiant, highlighting the Congress party’s culture of placing the interests and identity of a single family above the nation itself.

These documented lapses reveal a disturbing legacy of systemic failure that prioritised “goodwill gestures” toward adversaries and the suppression of domestic dissent over national resolve. By weaponising state agencies to malign civilisational symbols and neglecting critical border security, the Congress administration left behind a trail of compromised safety and insulted sentiments. For the new generation of voters, these instances serve as a stark reminder of the consequences of a government losing its ideological moorings and sacrificing the nation’s long-term strategic interests at the altar of short-term political survival.
