Hyderabad: In a significant breakthrough, Hyderabad Police busted an illegal LPG cylinder hoarding and black-marketing racket in the upscale Banjara Hills area, arresting 10 persons, including a licensed gas supplier identified as Mohd. Aamir.
Mohd. Aamir, proprietor of “Metro Gas Agency,” emerged as the prime accused in the case. Police said he, along with nine associates engaged in delivery, driving, and labour work, orchestrated the illegal diversion and sale of LPG cylinders. All the accused are residents of the Banjara Hills locality.
According to investigators, Aamir exploited his licensed position to divert LPG cylinders from authorised supply channels and stockpile them at a graveyard near Nagarjuna X Road. The cylinders were stored in violation of safety norms and later sold at inflated prices, taking advantage of public demand for domestic gas and generating wrongful gains.

In the midst of developments in West Asia, the Union Government and its ministries have repeatedly assured the availability of LPG reserves in India, however, certain sections are exploiting this vulnerability by creating disruptions in local fuel supply chains. Though Recent reports indicate that while supply chain disruptions have occurred due to the West Asia conflict, the Government of India has maintained that sufficient LPG reserves are available and has advised against panic buying or hoarding.
