March on RSS Nagpur Headquarter: Publicity stunt or political conspiracy?

A proposed march to the headquarters of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in Nagpur has triggered sharp political reactions, after leaders from the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi and the Indian National Congress attempted to mobilise support over issues ranging from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resignation to broader opposition against central government policies

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resignation, the Epstein files, and opposition to the Central Government’s policies — under this pretext, the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi and the Congress party have attempted to jointly organise a Maharashtra-wide march on the office of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Nagpur.

On March 23, while the nation was remembering the sacrifice of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru, Prakash Ambedkar and Harshvardhan Sapkal led a march in Nagpur. However, they did not even pay simple tribute to the martyrs. The march was supposed to proceed from Constitution Square (Sanvidhan Chowk) to the RSS Headquarters. But due to law and order concerns, permission for the full march was not granted. Therefore, the march was restricted only up to Morris College. At that spot, Prakash Ambedkar and Harshvardhan Sapkal delivered highly objectionable and inflammatory speeches.

Looking at the publicity this march received in the media and on social media, one would have thought that there would be no space left to set foot in Nagpur city. However, the march ultimately turned out to be a damp squib (a complete flop).

It is well known that there are big ideological differences between Congress and the RSS. The same Congress party, which during its decades of unchallenged rule across the country tried to crush the RSS using its political power, is today forced to organise marches along with regional parties just to ensure its own survival. It still has to rely on anti-RSS rhetoric for its very existence. This can only be called unfortunate.

Organising marches at the RSS office has now become a fashion for cheap publicity. This appears to be a major conspiracy.

Why are marches being organised at the RSS office these days? It is necessary to understand the chronology of this.

Earlier, they had organised a march on the RSS office in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (Aurangabad). Vaman Meshram had also attempted the same in Nagpur. By organising such marches, their clear intention seems to be to create sensationalism in the media and gain mileage. A larger conspiracy appears to be working behind this.

At a time when a massive bloody conflict is going on between Iran and Israel in the Middle East, and the world is moving towards a possible Fourth World War, there is suspicion that such marches are being organised to show the world that India too is unstable and disturbed.

It is being alleged that through the toolkit of Arfa Khanum Sherwani, Ravish Kumar, Punya Prasun Vajpayee, Sagarika Ghose, Shekhar Gupta, Karan Thapar, and from The Wire to Scroll — this left-wing ecosystem is trying to create a global narrative that “India is disturbed and unstable” by highlighting the Nagpur march in national and international media. Overall, the Nagpur march was not a genuine protest but a conspiratorial attempt to establish the narrative that “India is unstable and disturbed.”

Why target the RSS Headquarters and not Parliament?

Opposing the Central Government’s policies, raising the issue of the Epstein files, and addressing various other matters, Congress President and Vanchit leader Prakash Ambedkar attempted to organise a march to the RSS office. In the meeting held there, they made irresponsible statements claiming that the Modi government at the Centre is being run by the RSS and that Mohanrao Bhagwat should demand Narendra Modi’s resignation.

In reality, if they genuinely wanted to demand Narendra Modi’s resignation and oppose the Central Government’s policies, they should have organised a march on Parliament House in Delhi. The courts are also open for them. But why are they specifically targeting the RSS Headquarters?

The real issue troubling them is the growing strength and influence of the RSS across the country and the trust it has earned among common people. Through such experiments, they aim to achieve two things: first, to tarnish the image of the RSS, and second, to establish a global narrative that India, too, is unstable and disturbed. That is precisely why they are targeting the RSS office for marches.

Moreover, by levelling baseless allegations against a global organisation like the RSS, they also get an opportunity to remain in the media limelight. This is why they are choosing the RSS Headquarters over Parliament House.

The RSS does not run the government; it runs Shakhas

The claim is that the Central Government is run by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, and therefore, Prakash Ambedkar organised a march on the RSS office to demand Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resignation. They seem to have discovered a new method — demanding the Prime Minister’s resignation at the RSS office. However, there is no connection whatsoever between the RSS office and the Prime Minister. There is also no connection between the RSS office and the Epstein files — something Prakash Ambedkar may have forgotten. That is probably why they chose the RSS office instead of Parliament House.

In reality, the RSS does not run any government, nor is that its method of functioning. The RSS simply runs its daily shakhas, which follow a straightforward system for character and personality building.

It is true that RSS swayamsevaks are present in the Central Government. But they have not reached there because of anyone’s favour or mercy. They have reached those positions through their own hard work and merit. The BJP-led Central Government has its own independent way of working and thinking regarding the organisation, and it remains independent. Therefore, there is no question of demanding anyone’s resignation in this context.

This truth needs to be understood. But how can those who are afflicted with the disease of RSS-hatred ever understand this truth?

Just as RSS swayamsevaks are working in the government, they are also actively working in various social service organisations across the country, and similar allegations are repeatedly made against those institutions as well. It is often said that the RSS runs educational institutions, financial institutions, hospitals, or other organisations. However, the RSS does not run the government, schools, banks, or any institutions. The RSS runs only its shakhas, whose sole purpose is the development of individuals. The shakha is the core activity of the RSS. This must be clearly understood. The senior office-bearers of the RSS have clarified this many times.

The centenary year of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has begun. Despite ridicule, insults, and neglect, the RSS continues its successful journey while upholding the principle of the national interest. Building a vast Hindu organisation without any government or external help is not an easy task, and there is no parallel for it in world history. The RSS has never felt the need for publicity or propaganda to expand.

However, the Congress party, which once played a dominant role in Indian politics, has now been reduced to organising marches with regional parties just to survive. Along with that, it is also forced to conspire to organise marches at the RSS Headquarters. In the entire history of India, no march has ever been organised at the office of any organisation or political party in this manner. But now a new fashion of organising marches on the RSS office for cheap publicity has started. If this method is called extremely dangerous and a conspiratorial way of establishing a narrative, it would not be an exaggeration.
