Following the marriage of ‘Maha Kumbh Girl’ and Madhya Pradesh native Monalisa to Farman Khan, the development is being cited by some as a case of ‘Love Jihad’, with claims and counterclaims intensifying around the nature of the wedding. The couple tied the knot at Nainar Temple in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram in a ceremony conducted as per Hindu rituals, under police presence.
In a big development, Supreme Court advocate and BJP leader Nazia Ilahi Khan claimed the marriage was not a “normal one” and described it as a case of “proper love jihad”. she also alleged that the union violates provisions of the Hindu Marriage Act.
She also alleged that Hindu marriage traditions had been misused. She said that Farman at the Press Conference in Kerala continues to identify as a Muslim. “In this, the Hindu Marriage Act 1955 has also been violated, and the Hindu tradition of marriage has also been misused. Farman (husband of Monalisa) has clearly stated in his press conference that he is still a Muslim… There is a huge crime of hurting and misusing the Hindu religion.”
She questioned how Farman could marry in a temple following Hindu rituals if he still identifies as a Muslim. According to her, under the Hindu Marriage Act, both parties must be Hindu for the marriage to be valid, making this union legally questionable.
Preparations Underway to Send Monalisa to Syria
Supreme Court Advocate Nazia Ilahi Khan, citing unspecified sources, claimed that preparations are underway to send Monalisa to Syria, including arrangements related to a passport. These statements were reportedly made during media interactions in Madhya Pradesh’s Khargone. However, it is important to note that these remain allegations by the advocate and have not been independently verified.
She also alleged that Kerala has become a favourable ground for such activities due to the strong network of the Popular Front of India. Referring to inputs she claims to have received; Nazia said the fast-tracked passport issued to Monalisa could be part of a larger plan to send her to Syria. She called on national security agencies to act immediately and carry out a detailed investigation into the matter.

“Banned Popular Front Terrorists are active again”: Nazia Ilahi Khan
Nazia Khan further hinted at possible links between Monalisa’s marriage and the banned Popular Front of India (PFI), claiming that certain groups have become active again. She alleged possible external involvement and funding, and called on authorities, including the President, to intervene.
“As soon as Sharjeel Imam came out on parole, all these terrorist organisations have become active… I feel that if the government of Kerala is supporting such love jihad, such crime, and such radical Islamists, then our country’s security agencies should work… We have this doubt that PFI has a very big hand in this, and there is also funding from PFI… I feel that the intervention of the President is also very important in this matter….”
Nazia said that Monalisa’s expedited passport may be part of a larger conspiracy to send her to Syria. She urged national security agencies to take immediate action and conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
