NEW DELHI: The brutal murder of a youth, Tarun Khatik, in Uttam Nagar by the Islamists has sparked widespread anger and concern across society. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) JNU unit strongly condemned the inhumane act and demanded swift and strict action against those responsible.

In protest against the incident, ABVP JNU activists burned an effigy near Sabarmati Dhaba on the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus, expressing strong opposition and urging authorities to ensure a fair and speedy investigation into the matter.

The organisation stated that such brutal violence against an innocent person is not merely a crime against an individual but also a serious blow to social harmony, law and order, and human values. The manner in which aspects of religious tension and social hostility have reportedly surfaced in the incident is deeply worrying for society, the statement added.

ABVP JNU President Mayank Panchal said that all sections of society should respond sensitively to such heinous incidents. However, he expressed disappointment that left-wing organisations have not yet issued a clear reaction to the serious matter. Remaining silent on the killing of an innocent person is extremely unfortunate and reflects insensitivity, he said.

ABVP JNU Secretary Praveen Piyush described the murder of Tarun Kumar as a highly condemnable act and demanded the immediate arrest of the accused and strict punishment for them. He said strong action against such crimes is essential to maintain peace and security in society and to ensure justice for the victim’s family. The demand for justice should not depend on ideology or political convenience, he added.
