As the Israel-Iran conflict escalates with regional security ramifications, in the latest face-off, the home grown missile system of the United States F-15 has been crashed in Kuwait. The video footage circulating online depicts the dramatic fall of the F-15 fighter jets. The crash of the F-15 thus raises apprehension regarding the credibility and defensive capabilities of the fighter jet, which is apparently hailed as one of the most advanced and state-of-the-art missiles in the globe.

The F-15E fighter jets, popularly called as the “Strike Eagle”, crashed while it was flying in the Kuwait airspace. The United States Central Command(CENTCOM) of the US military department confirmed the crash of the missiles. However, the reason ascertained by the CENTCOM was “friendly fire”, meaning, it was mistakenly shot down by the military forces of Kuwait during coordinated operation. “All six aircrew members, two on each plane, ejected safely, have been recovered and are in stable condition. Kuwait has acknowledged the incident and we appreciate the efforts of the Kuwaiti defence forces and their support in this ongoing operation”, the CENTCOM further said in an official statement.

However, there are counter reports which claim that the F-15 fighter jets were shot down by the Iranian missiles and drones. Footages circulated by the Iranian Press depicted the spiralling down of the F-15E Strike Eagle as the fighter pilots ejected themselves from the aircraft and landed with the aid of a parachute on desert terrain. As per the reports, Iran has also targeted the US Embassy and other military bases of Washington across Kuwait. Smoke was seen rising from the US Embassy in the city as emergency services and fire fighters were deployed. Apart from the F-15 fighter jets several other US warplanes crashed in Kuwait, reported the defence ministry of Kuwait. However, all the crew in the warplanes are safe as search and evacuation processes are underway for medical examination.

Escalating conflict with regional repercussions

Meanwhile, the Israel-Iran conflict is escalating with larger regional ramifications as both parties are reluctant for dialogue and diplomacy. Iran has been continuously targeting and bombarding the US military bases and other civilian spaces across West Asia including UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan and other regions. Iran has also hit the UK airbase in Cyprus, thus the war officially landing in the European continent. On the other hand, the Israel-US axis is eliminating top Iranian officials creating a biggest vacuum within the theocracy of Tehran.

This included, Saleh Asadi, Deputy for Information, General Headquarters of the Armed Forces, Mohammad Shirazi, Chief of the Khamenei Office, Ghulam Reza Rezaian, Chief of Intelligence, Police Command, Mohsen Dareh Baghi who is the Deputy for Support, Armed Forces, Akbar Ebrahimzadeh, the Deputy Chief of the Khamenei Office, Bahram Hosseini Motlagh, Head of Planning and Operations, Armed Forces Headquarters and Hasan Ali Tajik, Head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces. As the war spikes with no sign of de–escalation, the peace, security and stability of West Asia and the larger geopolitical landscape dwindles with trade, energy and other ramifications, thus disrupting lives.
