Tiruvananthapuram: In its maiden Budget after assuming office, the BJP-led Tiruvananthapuram Corporation on 24 February unveiled an ambitious development roadmap for 2026–27, projecting the highest-ever income in its history at ₹2,500 crore, with an estimated expenditure of ₹2,253 crore and a surplus of ₹246 crore, while prioritising housing, healthcare infrastructure, employment, urban development and social welfare initiatives aimed at transforming the capital city into the country’s best by 2030.

Presenting the Budget, Deputy Mayor Asha Nath G S outlined a development-oriented framework with strong emphasis on housing for the homeless, backed by urban development programmes of the Union Government.

As part of the Budget allocations, ₹273 crore has been earmarked under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme for drinking water projects, along with sewerage development and rejuvenation of water bodies across the city.
