“Pakistan PM Would Have Died”: Trump’s State of Union remark on Op Sindoor sparks online frenzy — Here’s the Truth

US President Donald Trump has renewed his claim that he intervened to prevent a nuclear conflict between India and Pakistan during last year’s hostilities. His remarks come amid fresh assertions about brokering peace, imposing tariff threats, and India’s Operation Sindoor, launched after the Pahalgam terror attack

Donald Trump’s new Claim “Pakistan PM would have died..” wins the Internet during union address- What he meant?

US President Donald Trump said during his State of the Union speech that the Pakistan Prime Minister “would have died” if he had not stepped in during the India-Pakistan conflict named Operation Sindoor. He was talking about the military tensions between India and Pakistan in May 2025.

It seemed like he may have misspoken. It was not fully clear if he meant that the Prime Minister himself would have died, or if he was referring to a larger conflict.

Trump said he helped prevent a bigger war between the two countries. He also claimed that Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised him and said that “35 million” people could have died without his involvement.

Trump presented himself as playing a key role in reducing tensions between the two nuclear-armed nations.

‘I ended eight wars,’ says Trump

During his State of the Union address, Trump asserted that he had ended eight wars in his first ten months in office, claiming that India and Pakistan were on the brink of a nuclear conflict. In a dramatic statement, he said that Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would have been killed if not for his intervention.

“In my first 10 months, I ended eight wars… Pakistan and India would have had a nuclear war. Thirty-five million people said the Prime Minister of Pakistan would have died if it were not for my involvement,” Trump said.

The statement comes just days after the US President claimed that 11 “very expensive” jets were downed during the conflict between India and Pakistan. Trump has repeatedly maintained that he acted as a peace broker between the two nations, a claim India has firmly rejected, asserting that de-escalation was achieved through bilateral DGMO-level talks.

Tariff threats and Operation Sindoor

Speaking at the Board of Peace last week, Trump said he had threatened to impose a 200 per cent tariff on both countries, asserting that the two nations halted military exchanges because “there’s nothing like money.” He also claimed that he had called Prime Minister Narendra Modi to warn that the United States would stop trade with New Delhi.

India launched Operation Sindoor on the night of May 7, 2025, in retaliation for the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in April that killed 26 tourists. During the operation, Indian forces targeted terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), leading to intensified military exchanges between the two countries for the next few days.
