Lucknow University has issued notices to 13 students for allegedly conducting unauthorised Namaz at the historic Lal Baradari structure on campus, directing them to furnish a personal bond of Rs 50,000 along with two sureties of Rs 50,000 each to maintain peace and law and order for one year.

According to officials, the order was passed by the Executive Magistrate based on a challan report submitted by the Hasanganj police station. The report stated that the incident created a tense atmosphere within the university premises and that there was a possibility of disturbance to public peace if preventive measures were not taken. As a precautionary step, the 13 students have been directed to submit bonds as a guarantee of good conduct for the next year.

The controversy arose after some students offered prayers outside Lal Baradari. University authorities treated the gathering as an unauthorised religious activity within campus premises, prompting administrative and legal action.

The development also led to protests on campus. Members of Bajrang Dal staged a demonstration and raised slogans, demanding strict action against those who allegedly bypassed official restrictions to conduct prayers at the site. They maintained that university rules and regulations must be enforced uniformly to prevent any future tension.

University officials have emphasised that the action is aimed solely at maintaining law and order and ensuring that campus regulations are followed. Authorities stated that necessary steps are being taken to prevent any escalation and to preserve a peaceful academic environment.
