New Delhi: The India AI Impact Summit 2026 witnessed the formal launch of the AI Impact Casebooks – Health & Education, a comprehensive documentation of real-world Artificial Intelligence deployments that have moved beyond pilot stages to full-scale implementation across critical sectors.
Developed under the leadership of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, and the IndiaAI Mission, the casebooks aim to provide a structured roadmap for ethical, scalable and accountable AI adoption across institutions in India and the Global South.
From Promise to Practice
The casebooks highlight how AI applications are being integrated into clinics, classrooms and skilling systems with measurable outcomes. Unlike conceptual discussions around AI, these compendiums focus on implementation-ready models that have demonstrated scalability and institutional viability.
The initiative received support from global and national partners, including the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Central Square Foundation.
Positioned as practical blueprints for policymakers and institutions, the publications emphasise:
1. Ethical governance frameworks
2. Interoperability across systems
3. Public-private collaboration
4. Evidence-based evaluation mechanisms
5. Accountable AI ecosystems
The documentation is particularly relevant for countries in the Global South seeking scalable AI-driven solutions in healthcare and education.
Strengthening Governance and Global Benchmarks
Kavita Bhatia, Scientist G and Group Coordinator, AI & ET Division, MeitY, underlined the collaborative effort behind the publications. She said:
“I extend my deep appreciation to all partners who co-created these six compendiums for the India AI Impact Summit 2026. For the casebook on the real-world impact of AI in health, I acknowledge the stewardship of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and ICMR, along with the continued support of the World Health Organisation as a technical partner in guiding a globally benchmarked, evidence-based selection process.”
Her remarks highlight the involvement of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in ensuring scientific rigor and global standards in AI health applications.
Shikha Dahiya, Joint Director, MeitY, stressed the policy relevance of the initiative. She stated:
“These casebooks are a significant outcome of the IndiaAI Impact Summit. They highlight real-life use cases of AI in health and education, reflecting the Summit’s focus on measurable impact. We hope these publications serve as strong reference points and help guide the future course of policy in these critical sectors.”
WHO: Building Ethical and Evidence-Based AI Frameworks
Ms. Catharina Boehme, Officer-in-Charge, WHO South-East Asia Region, reinforced the global dimension of the initiative. She remarked:
“This compendium is meant to move the conversation on artificial intelligence from promise to practice. AI is emerging as a tool to tackle growing health issues, workforce challenges, and service delivery issues across the world. WHO is fully committed to support countries and governments in building strong AI governance framework enhancing technical and ethical capacity across the globe and promoting evidence based AI adoption across the globe.”
Her statement underlined WHO’s commitment to strengthening AI governance frameworks, enhancing technical and ethical capacities, and supporting evidence-based adoption worldwide.
A Blueprint for Scalable AI Governance
The AI Impact Casebooks mark a shift from theoretical AI discussions to structured institutional deployment. By documenting scalable models and measurable outcomes, the initiative seeks to guide governments, regulators, healthcare institutions, education systems and skilling ecosystems toward responsible and collaborative AI implementation.
With ethical governance, interoperability, and accountability placed at the core, the casebooks are expected to serve as foundational policy references for India’s expanding AI ecosystem and for emerging economies navigating digital transformation.
