Hyderabad: BJP Telangana State President N Ramchander Rao said the people of Telangana will teach a lesson in a democracy way  to the Congress party which tried to win through money, muscle, and the arrogance of power in Municipal and Corporation elections.

On February 11, he was addressing a joint press conference along with Union Minister G Kishan Reddy at state office in Hyderabad. Rao alleged that in several booths, Congress distributed money openly in the presence of police. Despite multiple complaints, there was no proper response from the State Election Commission or the police. It makes us doubt if the State Election Commission is actually functioning.

“Yesterday in Makthal, out of fear of defeat and in an attempt to assert dominance, the Congress party resorted to threats against BJP workers, misuse of power and various atrocities during the campaign, he  alleged and said that the death of BJP candidate Mahadevappa in Makthal was not a suicide, but a ‘government murder’ by the Congress.”

The state BJP chief further stated that in areas like Narayankhed, Sultanabad, Chennur, Shadnagar, Mahabubnagar, Khanapur, Sadasivpet, Ellampet, Wyra, Kothagudem, and Nizamabad, the ruling Congress party resorted to intimidation and misuse of official machinery. These actions are a direct result of their fear of losing, he said.

Even on polling day today attempts were made to attack BJP workers and drive them away from several polling centers. Despite this, our workers stood bravely, he said adding that the party has filed a complaint with the State Election Commission regarding these incidents.”

In the past, Indira Gandhi was disqualified by the court for misusing power. Today, the Congress party is following the same path, he said asked Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Congress leaders clearly that this is a democratic struggle and It is everyone’s responsibility to protect democracy.

Rao warned that “We will not tolerate attacks on BJP workers using the police. If our workers retaliate, the consequences will be severe.”

He assured BJP workers not lose confidence or be intimidated by the harassment from Congress leaders. The party will support you in every way possible.”

Rao accused Congress government of dividing unscientifically Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) into three parts for its own political gain. In an attempt to hand over a corporation to the Darussalam-based AIMIM party, they have effectively mortgaged ‘Core Hyderabad’ to them. By dividing GHMC into GHMC, Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC), and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC), they are prioritizing politics over administration.

The party chief expressed heartfelt gratitude to all the voters in Telangana who exercised their democratic right. We also thank the BJP leaders and cadres who worked tirelessly day and night during these elections. He expressed confidence that the BJP will secure victory in many key constituencies.”

Condemning the suicide of BJP candidate Mahadevappa in Makthal, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy said our party’s national president  Nitin Nabin expressed deep grief in Delhi over the tragic suicide incident. The suicide was driven by intense pressure and threats from the Congress party out of fear of losing the municipal elections, he alleged.

Giving details of malpractices during polling today He said the high-handedness of the ruling Congress is not limited to Makthal, it has been implemented across Telangana.

Union Minister further alleged that the money was distributed recklessly inside and outside polling booths in the presence of police. Despite multiple complaints, the State Election Commission (SEC) and the police remained unresponsive. “It makes us wonder if the SEC even exists in the state,” the Minister remarked.

Kishan Reddy said both Congress and BRS relied solely on money. Seeing the public’s rejection of Congress and lack of support for BRS, they resorted to violence and financial influence.

The Census Directorate clearly stated that no changes to administrative boundaries should be made after December 31, 2025, until May 2027, he pointed out and said by restructuring corporations in Gajwel, Nalgonda, and Hyderabad now, the government has acted unconstitutionally, he said.

The union minister said GHMC’s area has been increased from 650 sq. km (in 2007) to 2053 sq. km now, but there is no budget or plan for basic amenities. Even the “Core Area” currently suffers from overflowing drains and flooded roads during minor rains. While claiming the ORR as a boundary, the government arbitrarily excluded vital zones like the Airport, BHEL, and ICRISAT from GHMC limits.

The Minister alleged that at the pressure of the Majlis (AIMIM) party, the government merged Majlis-dominated areas like Rajendranagar and Maheshwaram into the “Core GHMC” to suit their political interests, effectively mortgaging the city’s administration.

The state BJP State General Secretary Tulla Veerender Goud, Chief Spokesperson and Media incharge N V Subhash, ST Morcha President Ravi Nayak, and senior leaders G. Venkat Reddy, Sunitha, and Ramakrishna were also present at the press conference.
